✨ TENTATIVE CHANGES ✨ Announcement As of 25/8/2020 One Bite Bakes will be tentatively trading under a new name Corgeous Bites. As some of you may know, another macaron maker has accused me of undercutting the industry and stealing off her success by having a similar name. This was never the case for me. “one bite” for me was genuinely based from my love for mukbang videos. As cheesy as it sounds, I loved how a bite of food could be so rewarding and uplifting and I felt that if my tiny desserts could do the same, I would be over the moon. Please trust me when I say, I never had any intentions to jeopardise any other businesses. I do admit I should have done more research in the community and it was my carelessness. However, I am in no position to have a lawsuit served. I tried to resolve this privately, however, I wanted to make this public as I do not wish to be further defamed of something that was never in my intentions. If any of you have followed me believing I was affiliated with another company, I kindly ask you to please unfollow me, as we are not. Thus, today I will be marking the end of One Bite Bakes. Now that the legal proceedings have been concluded, we can comment on the departure of Tom Meighan from Kasabian. No one in the band wanted this to happen. We have all worked so hard for the past twenty three years and had big plans for our future together. We’re completely heartbroken. But we were left with no choice but to ask Tom to leave the band. There is absolutely no way we can condone his assault conviction. Domestic violence and abuse of any kind is totally unacceptable. As soon as we found out about the charges made against Tom, we as a band made the decision that we could no longer work with him. Unfortunately we had to hold back this information until he was found guilty in court. We were led to believe that Tom would hold his hands up and in his statement tell everyone what he’d done but he chose not to, misleading a lot of fans. Ultimately, as much as Tom has hurt us all, we’re not the victim in all of this. Domestic violence is something that can never be excused. Thank for your support at this difficult time. Beauty Guild have today sent an open letter to @borisjohnsonuk, asking the UK Government to allow Beauty Salons to reopen fully. The letter from Beauty Guild Director, Paul Archer says: . “I am writing to you on the day when beauty salons in England were expecting to welcome back their clients by recommencing popular treatments on the face. Sadly, following your announcement at 12 noon yesterday, they remain restricted to offering a range of services so limited that most salons simply can’t survive. With less than 24 hours’ notice, clients who had treatments booked have had to be cancelled. Loyal and hardworking staff have had to be re-furloughed, or worse, made redundant. Many businesses are facing the real prospect of having to close their doors forever. The industry has now reached breaking point. . We understand the need to control the spread of COVID-19 and to “follow the science” which has been the Government’s mantra throughout this pandemic. In an industry where hygiene and sanitation are exemplary, all beauty therapists understand the need for infection prevention and control. The training and restructuring that salon owners have undertaken to prepare to reopen safely has been second to none. ⁣Know your body and listen to it.⠀ ⠀ On Monday evening I had an emergency appendectomy. The ER doctor broke the news at 8pm and by 8:30pm I was on the surgery table handing the nurse my forgotten hair tie. I was a nervous wreck. ⠀ ⠀ At midnight, I woke up with Vic by my side saying the surgery went well and I’m so lucky we caught it early or else it could have been more severe. I wasn’t discharged till Tuesday night and still have a few weeks of recovery ahead of me.⠀ ⠀ Rewind to the previous week, on Friday I had extreme pain in my lower abdomen, chills and loss of appetite. We all thought it was just food poisoning.⠀ ⠀ So the next couple days I took it easy, pain was slowly going away but I was now having massive headaches and fatigue. On Monday morning, I woke up still not feeling like myself, so Vic set me up with a doctor apt. Who later insisted we go to the ER for a CT scan to rule out appendicitis - the rest is history.⠀ ⠀ I’m sharing this story not for pity points, but to truly encourage you all how important it is to listen to your body. Know your body, take into account when you feel your best, when you wake up, and when you’re upset.⠀ ⠀ Waking up every morning with a headache, tired, and slight pain in my stomach could have been easily due to lack of sleep and dehydration. But I knew something was off, my body doesn’t react this way... little did I know I had an infection. If we didn’t go to the ER and instead waited a few more days then I would have suffered worse pain and intense surgery (if you’re curious, just research “ruptured appendix”) ⠀ ⠀ Our body is a vessel that allows us to do amazing things. So don’t disregard a sudden change as something minor, please put your health first. ⠀ ⠀ A special thanks to my selfless, incredibly amazing wife @vmatthewsphoto who never left my side and captured these unforgettable, pre-surgery moments—before I knew what was awaiting me. Music, Art, and Culture is the beating heart of what we do and of our society. Without this, we wouldnt exist. The longstanding impact that these regulations will have across venues, bars, restaurants, festivals and beyond is massive. A whole generation of skilled professionals in music and the arts potentially wiped out. It is essential that the NI Executive engage our sector and continue to build a dialogue to work towards bringing events back in a safe capacity, and trust the professionals to do this, enabling them to return to work. 4weeks ago, at 3am, I was resuscitating a really sick baby with likely sepsis. It was my last shift at the hospital and it was  stressful. We managed to stabilise her, put a tube down her throat, put her on a ventilator and transfer her tointensive care. It was a very scary resus call and it was also the straw that broke my back . After 6months of working at peak stress, redeployment in ITU, dealing with intense emotions of grief, anger, fear,  witnessing horrendous safeguarding cases, juggling homeschool/work and after a VERY stressful and incredibly busy winter last year, I broke. I burned out. The work has been emotionally and physically demanding like nothing Ive ever experienced before. Like many others in the NHS, I was close to burnout before the pandemic hit and when duty called; we were asked to push ahead, to be resilient and as always to put our patients first. We did. We persevered, we picked up extra shifts and as we saw the end of the peak of the pandemic, we held our breaths for a second wave. Those breaths have now become heavy, laden with anxiety and fear that this winter will break us and our spirit . We were clapped for, we were called superheroes and given free coffees as reward. The reality is we are human and fragile. We tire, we experience stress, compassion fatigue and we feel a breadth of emotions. We push ourselves to limits for a job that would replace us in a heartbeat. But at what cost? I know I wont mentally survive another peak. I dont have a reserve for it. I am exhausted . So for the first time in a decade of training, I am putting myself first. Ive said clearly and loudly  I need help. My body and brain need rest and I cant carry the emotional burden that comes with being a Doctor at the moment. I am exhausted . Thank you to every single one of you that messaged to see if I was okay. I wasnt but have taken the steps necessary to get back to feeling like myself again . Burnout is a very real for MANY In our NHS . Its forcing so many dedicated doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to leave the jobs they love . We arent invincible . We break . I cannot stress this enough. WE STILL NEED HELP. it is complete devastation in Lake Charles. Our people have lost their homes, offices, normal way of life & some have even lost family members (mostly in heartbreaking accidents in the aftermath.) Even after almost 2 weeks since Laura hit, it looks post-apocalyptic there. Imagine driving through your city dodging fallen trees & power lines, seeing trees and gaping holes on every other home, seeing giant trees completely uprooted everywhere, barely being able to recognize the streets you drive everyday and it being pitch black by 8pm. We will be rebuilding for years, and we deserve the kind of funding & donations that come with widespread national media coverage, yet we aren’t getting it. I barely even see Louisiana & Southern influencers talking about it much (huge credit to those who have, and I’m talking more than just one Story!) I know there’s a LOT going on in the world, within our communities and even within our own homes, but if you can take a second to either spread the word (sharing this post to your stories is a great way to do this) or donate even just $10 to any of the organizations in the link in my bio, the community of SWLA would be incredibly grateful. Two months ago we noticed excavators doing major digging at 49-51 Johnson Road in Hakipuʻu—an ahupuaʻa that is filled with iwi kūpuna and other significant Hawaiian cultural and religious sites. This property, like many others in Hakipuʻu, had recently been acquired by Kualoa Ranch President and CEO John Morgan. John was aware of the iwi and of the significance this ahupuaʻa as he had been present in at least two Oʻahu Island Burial Council meetings this year, including one on 6/10/2020 when my ʻohana and I were declared lineal descendants to the iwi on this property. Although OIBC members urged him to work with us to care for the iwi, the very next day (6/11) a neighbor informed us of another excavator that had been used to uncover an old cesspool. On 6/12 we went to the property to mālama our kūpuna and witnessed sewage and stagnant water being pumped from the cesspool into the auwai which leads to the ocean—an area where our children and many neighborhood kids regularly swim, fish, and play. So this morning (6/17), we knew we had to take a stand by blocking Kualoa Ranch’s access to the property. We felt it was the only way to keep the iwi kūpuna safe. The police were called, and attempted to mediate to find a resolution but John was only willing to cease plumbing work “today” with no promise for safety tomorrow. John had me arrested, along with another Hakipuʻu community member who also felt strongly that this was the only way to protect this wahi pana. *Edit: in the original letter, “Preserve-in-Place” was written as “Burial Treatment,” but we were advised of the correct term recently. - @thecrazyfuks on Instagram

Here is a drawing of my dear aunt @ifyadenuga. Drawn from a reference photo taken from her earlier years. Ify Adenuga has been a dear family friend from as early as I can rememeber. Ever since I was a child I had always admired her. She had a very natural way of expressing herself which had quite an impact on me growing up. In my late teens I decided to express myself in a more physical way. I began working out in the gym and started growing my hair out. Culturally in my family background, a man growing out his natural hair very long wasnt seen as a normal or suitable thing to do but my aunt fully embraced it and encouraged me to continue to express myself as honestly as I could. In that particular time growing out my hair I was also going through a major shift spiritually in my journey. With my aunt Ifys embrace of my physical expression, it allowed me to see myself beyond the identity society deemed fit for me. And in turn, it allowed me to go within once no longer worried how I was seen outwardly by others. Without my aunt even knowing, a lot of my spiritual development blossomed from her acknowledging the importance of self expression. Drawing my aunt had always been at the top of my list of portrait drawing. I feel blessed the opportunity presented itself where I was able to capture her at a time where she was becoming the phenomenal woman she is today. During our wedding rehearsal, with the marriage equality decision having come down only a few hours before, Hilary made it clear that she wanted to hear our officiant say the words, “you are lawfully wedded wives.” During a team coffee chat, with that day five years ago still fresh in my mind, I let everyone know that tomorrow is our wedding anniversary.
