Anyone who has spent my birthday with me knows it’s always a weird day for me. Its as if my Aries Cancer Cancer takes over and Im in this constant tug-o-war of wanting to be around everyone I love and being trapped somewhere in my mind - this year I’m trapped inside. I’ve really tried to distance myself from today in fear that I might combust. Im usually able to put words together to eloquently express my feelings when I sit down but today I can’t. My brain has been a maze, trying to avoid any corners that could shatter me. As an anxious person this situation has actually been relaxing for me. Im so used to being wound up of impending doom and now that a time of crisis is here its like my mind can relax. Im no longer alone in my stress, I feel normal instead of the outlier. But my birthday always pulls me into my mind and today I don’t have the luxury of hugging those I love. I’m sorry I’ve been slow to respond I’ve been trying to remove myself from it, in hopes I can surpass truly connecting with everything happening. I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the love, your words have coddled me when your arms cant. I wish I could be with you all, I wish I could be more present. Im deeply invested in everything and one that I love and so i’m feeling it hard. If anyone has any videos or photos of better memories this would be the best gift you could give me. Being able to direct my energy to a healthy cry rather than huddling in fear would surpass any gift i’ve received in the past. Hello all! Today, we share with you news of something special. Were so excited and have been looking forward to this for a while. A week after we released our debut album last year, we went to rural France, where much of the album was recorded, to shoot a short film. We wanted to present our creative process, ideas and aesthetic world behind the album in the form of a visual essay. The result was an experimental film of 8 minutes 25 seconds, produced-directed-shot-edited by us. We called it Cest Quoi Le Mantra Moderne? and it became an intimate portrayal of us drifting between abstraction and realism, fragmentation and harmony. We were hoping to watch it with you on the big screen but due to the pandemic were going to screen it online for the first time as part of the Short Focus Film Festival. COMING SOON: ANTON CORBIJN - MOØDe In MOØDe presenteert de internationaal toonaangevende fotograaf en filmmaker Anton Corbijn beelden uit zijn rijke oeuvre waarin hij de cross-over tussen de fotografie en de modewereld opzoekt. Daarmee omarmt hij de term ‘mode’ in de ruimste zin. De portretten die Corbijn maakte van onder anderen Alexander McQueen, Tom Waits, Kate Moss, Björk en Clint Eastwood hebben een iconische status verworven. Als visual director achter Depeche Mode en door zijn decennialange samenwerking met onder meer U2 heeft hij een stempel gedrukt op hoe wij naar een belangrijk stuk hedendaagse cultuur kijken.
