THE MAASAI WARRIORS (MORRANS) Maasai warriors are trained, they become war specialist on combat war( Traditional warfare using spears, Bows & Arrows and swords) Traditionally the Maasai are not Blacksmiths so they befriend blacksmith tribes(Datoga & dorobo) and assure them protections within Maasai land territories, as they dont rare cows, goats and sheep, They feed on wild Animals which Maasai doesnt, so they dont end up fighting over property ownership. The first big training a warrior must learn from his superiors is how the goat, cow or sheep is slaughtered. Mostly there is a lot of goat slaughtering in any Manyattas or villages, because of guests welcoming, preparing medicine for the sick or welcoming a new born baby. Boys are always there, eager learn how from their fathers or seniors. As shown in the picture every warrior must have his own sharp sword to participate in bull slaughtering, they must master on how to separate every joint and every muscle and who it belong to (every portion or part is named and has its rightful owners from the all ages and divide of the Maasai society). A whole bull in our tradition teachings has 26( as in one piece most are pairs) different parts excluding, the skin, head and hooves. There is strict traditional norms and rules that has to be observed and monitored by elders or anyone when slaughtering in our cultural practices, first you stub the cow with a sharp object in a hole at the back of the neck, it cuts the spinal cord, disrupt the connection to the brain. The hole doesnt waste a lot of much needed blood, then it is suffocated using a fine sheep skin tied around the bulls mouth, doing so keeps vain warm so the blood could not clot easily before a big gush hole is open at the belly using sharp sword through, all the way to the heart arteries to release enough blood for many warriors. THEN THE BLOOD IS FOR ALL AND SOME FOR THE OCCASION. EVERYONE LOVE TO HAVE THE FIRST COUNT, THEN THE SKINNING PROCESS BEGINS, STARTING FROM THE RIGHT TO THE LEFT SIDE.......ITS A RITUAL THAT SOME SKIN IS LEFT ATTACHED TO THE HOOVES, TAIL AND ON THE HEAD! #maasaiwarriors #maasaiculture #maasaivillage #maasaitribe #maasaipeople - @maasai_tribe on Instagram

The last days of Zeenat Mahal: Zafars favorite wife! Begum Zeenat Mahal, the favorite wife of Bahadur Shah Zafar, spent her final days in exile in Rangoon. She, along with Zafar, was made to stay in a square building made of woods containing four rooms- one for Bahadur Shah Zafar, the second for her, and the other two for the family of two of her sons. After Zafar died in 1862, suffering a paralytic stroke, the British government granted her a monthly stipend of Rs. 120. She remained in detention for another 4 years. On 16 June 1866, release orders were issued for her with the condition that she would continue to stay in Rangoon. Her stipend was also increased to Rs 250 per month. Towards the end of her life, after continued requests citing her old age and satisfactory moral character, her stipend was increased to Rs. 500. Zeenat Mahal became an opium addict in Rangoon- her intake being somewhere around 10 grams per day. She had a constant complaint of indigestion causing severe colic attacks. In 1884, she suffered an acute attack and remained ill till November. Never fully recovering, she complained of severe pain on 8 July 1886, and ran high fever for five days continuously, causing her many sleepless nights. On the eighth day, the pulse began sinking and on 17 July 1886, she breathed her last. She was buried alongside Bahadur Shah Zafars grave in accordance with the wishes of her daughter-in-law, Shah Zamani Begum, and grandson, Jamshed Baksh. The Chief Commissioner gave a grant of Rs. 1000 for her funeral. Judging by the saddle style, this unidentified cowboy was working in the late 1870s or 1880s. In his holster, he carries a Colt model 1873 single action revolver with hard rubber grips, and he has looped his left arm around a Winchester model 1873 carbine in a saddle scabbard. On the back is the light pencil inscription “Indian fighter.” – Image courtesy Maverick Publishing Company – . . . . #truewest #twmag #truewestmagazine #western #west #oldwest #wildwest #westernhistory #history #historicalphoto #historicalphotograph - @twmag on Instagram

- On this day in history Apache Scout Charles Martine died in 1937. He and Apache scout Kayitah, talked Geronimo into meeting with General Miles under a white flag. Miles double crossed them all and exiled them to the east. Here Martine appears on the left and Kayitah on the right.(736x1194)
