Cela reste un chrono excellent, le 4ème, sur le parcours dit intégral, cest à dire avec Saint Gervais, le col des Pyramides Calcaires et le final par la tête aux vents. Spence Bridge to Table Rock hike today. Over 5 miles total & the pic I took of my watch was mid hike/coming down the mountain loop. STRENUOUSSSSSS. I said in my video 1500ft in elevation in a mile- it was almost 2 miles for 1500 gain with our 3 littles & Tiff/Brian’s big kids. Eric was an alpaca for a hot minute for Kippy & carried Cash for a very quick 25 ft. Otherwise everyone hiked & it was glorious. Lots of fussing by our 3 but gosh dern, they did it. Yesterday was easily one of best, the hardest, and most inspiring days of my life. The weather was absolutely insane, raining every step of the way, sometimes torrential downpours and sometimes a bit less, and wind gusts of over 30 mph right in our faces. But despite all that, I had an amazing squad of DFMC team mates (several of us that managed to stick together for more than half the race), my dad who ran the last 7+ miles with me, and my loving and supportive boyfriend, family and friends who drove to multiple spots on the course throughout the day and stood in the miserable weather to cheer me on and give me wet hugs. Not to mention all the die hard, Boston Strong fans along the way, and support from friends and family near and far in the form of contributions to my fundraising for the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge. We ran this race for so much more than finish times and medals around necks. Every person on team DFMC has someone they’re running in honor or memory of, and most people have more than one. Every time the rain got harder or the wind blew stronger I thought about all the names I carried with me and pushed a little bit more. When I was in the 8th grade, I was at a friends house for dinner. As I got up to get seconds, her dad said, dont eat too much or you wont be able to run as fast next year. My freshman year of high school, after I won my first big race, the reporter interviewing me asked me how much I weighed before a single question about the race. These sorts of comments and suggestions continued throughout my high school and college careers. They were/are damaging to me, and I wish that people would consider the impact of their words before speaking, especially to young, impressionable athletes. My point isnt that we cant deal with the chastising, its that we shouldnt have to. Young (or any age) minds shouldnt be infiltrated with thoughts that their size is the reason for success or that their hunger cues cant be trusted. And a freshman girls weight definitely shouldnt be published in the paper. To people who feel the need to make these comments: please consider that words are remembered and can impact a person for years after they leave your lips. Perhaps make a positive comment about the race or training instead. To runners who deal with these comments: know that these people almost always have no authority to speak about weight/nutrition/body comp/performance. Try to tune them out or consult a medical professional, such as a sports RD, if you are concerned. Ok so let me get a bunch of caveats out of the way.⠀ ⠀ Dysbiosis (bacterial imbalance in your little community of gut bacteria) is totally a thing.⠀ ⠀ Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s Disease) are unfortunately totally a thing. ⠀ ⠀ Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is totally a thing. ⠀ ⠀ But the phrase “heal your gut” is… problematic. ⠀ ⠀ The thing is, we can’t really HEAL those things. We can manage them. We can potentially improve them and massively reduce the frequency at which flare ups or symptoms occur. ⠀ ⠀ But heal?⠀ ⠀ That phrase is most commonly used by people or supplements promising things they should not promise, for prices you should not pay, for facts that are actually fantasy (holy alliteration Batman). ⠀ ⠀ So while I’m not saying every single person who uses that phrase is unreliable… I’m also not not saying that. ⠀ ⠀ If your guts are giving you grief (oh man it’s still going), work with someone who is going to identify potential triggers (both food and non-food related), and help you build a nutritionally complete plan that manages your symptoms as optimally as possible.⠀ ⠀ Not as sexy as “healing your leaky gut”, but way cooler. - @jonosteedman on Instagram

Gegen mich selbst. Solange es geht. Ein wenig der Langeweile entgegenwirkend habe ich mir 9 verschiedene 6,7km Strecken zusammengebaut und kann nach Gusto wählen. 💡Trener du eller mosjonerer du? Her er det en del begrepsforvirring. Overalt, fra avisene, bloggene, til sosiale medier blir det som egentlig er mosjonering omtalt som trening. Ingen mosjonerer lenger, til og med ikke mosjonistene, nå til dags trener alle. 🤔Men, hva er egentlig forskjellen? Trening er en målrettet prosess. Trening har en retning, vi følger en strukturert plan med logiske progresjoner satt i system for å oppnå et spesifikt mål. Trening er mye mer enn en serie med individuelle treningsøkter. Når vi trener har hver treningsøkt en hensikt, og øktene bygger på hverandre. Det er en systematisk prosess hvor vi jobber med bla planlagt variasjon i treningsmengder, intensiteter, frekvenser, balansert med hvile for å oppnå et spesifikt resultat eller mål. Å mosjonere er ikke like systematisk eller målrettet som trening, her vil formålet normalt være rekreasjon og helse. Mosjonering er ikke en prosess koblet opp mot et spesifikt mål. En som mosjonerer, har ikke en strukturert treningsplan for hva de skal gjøre. Istedenfor gjennomfører de en rekke individuelle treningsøkter. Disse treningsøktene henger verken sammen eller bygger på hverandre og ofte har de heller ingen spesifikk hensikt. Men disse øktene kan fremdeles være veldig tøffe, gjøre deg svett, sliten og støl, etterlate deg med blodsmak i munnen og kan få deg i bedre form. Men det er fremdeles ikke trening. Trening har en mening. Mosjonering er arbeid. Det er viktig å understreke at det er absolutt ingenting galt med å mosjonere. Jeg mosjonerer også i perioder og enkelte mosjonerer hver dag. Mosjonering er viktig for folkehelsen, viktig for å få folk i aktivitet og det kan være morsomt og motiverende å gjennomføre nye øvelser og nye treningsøkter hver gang. It is 7 degrees, raining and windy. I have been up late last night watching water pour through by new kitchen ceiling. Even the dog looked forlorn when I suggested we go out this morning. Today is one of those days when I don’t ‘feel’ like running and it is a decision to just do it anyway. What helps on these type of days is the effort I have already gone to create routine and rhythms to my week. It is this that helps me stay on track. I had already made the time to get out and have been doing the same thing for some months now. I had my running kit out the night before and am wearing it before I make a coffee. I then trick myself and say l, ‘well I can walk if I want’, knowing that I will get out there and think ‘I might as well run now I am here.’ I am tired and it is ones of those runs where my legs feel like lead and my heart is heavy. I have a decision to make. Counting 🐑 while the world sleeps 🌙✨ Today marks what would have been the opening ceremonies of the 2020 Olympic Games and 🤞🏼one year from the 2021 Olympics. In an ideal world I would have been in my final preparations for Tokyo now, but the world had different plans. Instead I spent the week camping on Saltspring Island in BC while doing base work. Certainly not where I’d hoped to be, but it was a nice time to reflect ✨✨ Running on the roads in Saltspring I was reminded of a family trip I took to the Gulf Islands after my grade 12 year - a week before I left to Ontario for university. Making time for training while on vacation can be tough, but once I’m out there I find the runs are often the highlight of my trip: you can cover so much ground while running and get a real lay of the land. The roads on Saltspring are hilly but I got to run past farmers fields and community market stands - something you don’t see in Vancouver.
