Our family has grown! 🖤🧡 Were still working on names for these babies, but Im so excited to share our 3-month-old orange tabby baby boy and 6-month old pocket panther girl (seriously - shes still only 4 pounds!) with you! Doozer and Burt were members of our family for 16 and 17 years. After Burt passed in July, I wasnt sure when we would be ready for kitties again. Id recently been thinking the time might be right now, especially since my sons and I are home all day with work and school. When my boys both separately asked about getting a cat last week, I went right to the SAFE Haven for Cats website to submit an adoption application and schedule an appointment! So, I visited @safehaven4cats on Friday, hoping to find a pair of kittens to join our family. After spending some time with two kitties that I fostered back in July who were now ready for adoption, these two chose me instead! Baby Boy had two other siblings who had already been adopted. He was shy, but loved getting head scritchies and chin rubs when I held him. Baby Girl had arrived at the shelter alone. Despite being 3 months old, she weighs one pound less than him! She started purring the second I held her. While these two did not know each other at the shelter and we kept them separated at home until Sunday afternoon, they are becoming friends. 😻😻 He is more shy around humans than her, but his demeanor instantly changed when he saw her on Sunday. 😭 He followed her all around the room and wanted to play! She kept hissing at him, but soon warmed up to him. Ill continue to share their progress as they adjust to their new home and each other.
