📅 Hace 121 años nacía uno de los más grandes escritores argentinos: Jorge Luis Borges. En homenaje a su figura y a su obra, hoy se celebra en Argentina el Día del Lector. Piazzolla y Borges mantuvieron una relación intensa, con encuentros y desencuentros. En 1965 realizaron juntos un proyecto monumental: el disco “El tango”, con música de Astor, letras de Borges, la voz de Edmundo Rivero en los temas cantados y la del actor Luis Medina Castro como recitante. El álbum, con todas las características para convertirse en histórico, nunca fue muy fácil de conseguir y por eso se convirtió en un disco de culto para los fanáticos del tango. Esta foto que los muestra juntos recuerda el cruce entre las historias de dos genios de la cultura argentina, que lograron traspasar las fronteras de su país por su invaluable y magistral legado. __ 📅 121 years ago one of the greatest Argentine writers was born: Jorge Luis Borges. As a tribute to him and his body of work, the Day of the Reader is celebrated in Argentina today. Piazzolla and Borges had an intense relationship, with agreements and disagreements. In 1965 they made a monumental project together: the album “El tango”, with music by Astor, lyrics by Borges and the voices of Edmundo Rivero and Luis Medina Castro. This album, with all the elements to become legendary, was difficult to acquire and because of that, it became a cult album for tango fans. My favorite part of the “Studio 54: Night Magic” exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum is the captivating footage of Potassa de Lafayette, who was the club’s reigning Dominican transgender sex goddess. In the 1970s she posed for Warhol and was part of Salvador Dali’s entourage, but has since vanished. The rest of the vast exhibit emphasizes the club’s glitz, glamour and business aspects But its sexual debauchery—gay and straight—is barely mentioned. Su obra trascendió las fronteras y fue traducida a más de 30 idiomas. Tuve el placer de conocerlo personalmente hace 3 años cuando se presentó la edición de Mafalda en guaraní. Tenía 85 años y aún conservaba el sarcasmo. Pude felicitarlo y esa charla que tuvimos la recordaré por siempre. Hace 2 días y 56 años se publicaba la primera edición de Mafalda en Primera Plana. Hoy, la partida de Quino ocupó la primera plana de todos los diarios de Argentina y el mundo. . Umberto Eco, quien realizó el prólogo de la edición italiana, imaginó una enciclopedia del año 2040, con dos posibles acepciones para Quino: 1°. Autor e inventor del célebre personaje de comic Mafalda. Hizo después algunos agradables volúmenes de cartoons. 2°. Dibujante y moralista del siglo XX. En sus cartoons ha dado una visión lunática y surrealista de los aspectos cotidianos de la vida ínfima de nuestros tiempos; además, hizo un dibujo popular en su época de nombre Mafalda. . Eco prefería que Quino fuese recordado con la segunda acepción. As in the best surrealist tradition, Hains was a flâneur, and the urban derive was an essential method of work for him. The streets were his workshop, and they gave rise to the affiches déchirées (torn posters) that he began working on in 1949 with Jacques Villeglé. Both artists captured fragments of old, ripped posters, and transformed them into large-scale abstract compositions. With these works, Hains produced a sui generis version of Informalism, and offered an ironic take on Abstract Expressionism, calling himself an “inaction painter”. - Come nella migliore tradizione surrealista, Hains era un flâneur, e la deriva urbana era per lui un metodo di lavoro essenziale. Le strade erano il suo atelier, e diedero origine agli affiches déchirées (manifesti strappati) su cui iniziò a lavorare nel 1949 insieme a Jacques Villeglé. Entrambi gli artisti raccoglievano frammenti di vecchi poster strappati, e li trasformavano in composizioni astratte su larga scala.
