Just feels like yesterday. Sept 17, 1990 Heaven Or Las Vegas was released into the world. Things had changed dramatically since Blue Bell Knoll. We moved into Pete Townsend’s Eel Pie Studios as he moved out and we set up our own September Sound Studios, my father died suddenly during the recording, Elizabeth and Robin had a baby. A lot of change and upheaval but through all that we wrote some cool pieces. More upheaval was to come but for this brief moment in time, we were able to put the external drama aside and focus wholly on the work. It’s kinda sad that this anniversary, commemorating one of our most successful AND heralded albums on 4AD, will pass by and barely get a mention in dispatches. If the band was still active it might receive more attention, I’m aware of that, but I know it means a lot to a significant number of people, and I’m very thankful that through things like Tim Burgess’s Twitter Listening Parties this summer, we have all had the chance to revisit the album and reminisce. It may receive little coverage outside the forums and fan groups but it still affects us all thirty years on, me included and I’m proud of what we created. Hopefully the vinyl version will be repressed soon and new fans can continue to discover and enjoy it as many have done ever since it was released. Thanks for all the love you’ve given this record. Today! 10 YEARS OF WE STITCH THESE WOUNDS We Stitch These Wounds is the debut album by American band Black Veil Brides, released under the Standby label on July 20, 2010. Andy announced in December 2009 the recording to start the album. This album was recorded between February and April 2010, in Hollywood, CA, in the studio Clear Lake Audio, by manager Blasko. On June 14, 2010, the video for the song Perfect Weapon was released on July 8 as a single. We Stitch These Wounds, The Morticians Daughter and Knives & Pens of the EP Never Give In were also re-recorded. This album sold 11,000 copies in its first week, also peaked #36 the Billboard 200 and #1 in Independent Release. The album was criticized, as critics were annoyed by Biersacks monotonous voice, being only able to sing in an octave. One reviewer in www.sputnikmusic.com ended up in his review saying, Hey, at least the kids outperformed Brokencyde. A very common critique among BVB fans and critics was also clarified, as Knives and Pens is accused of being a plagiarism of Avenged Sevenfolds Unholy Confessions, guitar sound, pre-chorus and drum timing. My obsession with Anthony Moores shelved 1976 Virgin Records album Out has finally manifested in its first ever vinyl release, coming OUT November 2020 via Drag City! After many discussions with Mr. Moore and taking the album to various labels to find/generate interest, I was finally able (thanks to Emmett Kelly 🙌) to liaise Anthony with Drag City who took the ball and ran with it. The album, recorded in 1975, did actually see a sketchy release in the 90s as a cd and with new album art, but this is the first time it will be on vinyl and with the original album art by Hipgnosis. It’s an absolute masterpiece of songwriting, production, and arrangement. It has songs of political protest and songs of love & tenderness - it’s a balance we need more than ever.
