Nekoma Safeguard Complex, North Dakota, America 🇺🇸 Designed as a pyramid (for an unknown reason), the Mickelsen Safeguard Complex near Nekoma, was a radar system intended to find and destroy missiles launched at the U.S. Inside the complex, along with radar, were 30 Spartan antiballistic missiles and 16 Sprint missiles. Because of a treaty with the Soviet Union that limited the number of weapons complexes each country could have, Mickelsen didnt even stay in service for an entire year. The complex was deactivated on Feb. 10, 1976. #abandonedhistory #abandonedplaces #abandoned #lostplaces #urbex #abandonedmilitarybase #coldwar #abandonedworld - @history_abandoned on Instagram

Sayil, Labna, Kabah Just south of Uxaml on the Ruta Pucc (Hwy 261) are three small ruin sites considered the suburbs of Uxmal. Few visit these small sites as Uxmal towers over the area both historically and culturally. Missing these three archaeological gems will leave a hole in your historical knowledge of the Maya. Being small sites, Sayil, Labna, Kabáh are easy to tour in just a few hours. Located close to Uxmal, they are easy to get to. Merv is an ancient urban center that grew along the Silk Road and is located in Turkmenistan in Central Asia. The ancient city at one point included everything from ice houses to palaces and pavilions to meet the needs of travelers, traders, and royalty. The city was at one point initially part of the Persian Achaemenid empire and the as also invaded by Alexander the Great. Between its occupation by the Muslim Umayyads and its earlier history, it was a diverse religious hub that was, in general, open to all peoples. The archaeological complex in Turkmenistan today is monolithic in size, containing histories dating back 2500 years depending on where in the complex you are at any given time. There are several massive fortresses, some built by the Muslim Caliphates and some built before. Sadly, in recent years, Merv has been repeatedly vandalized by Muslim extremist groups, notably the Taliban. There are several restoration efforts but the damage is severe. One can only wonder the splendor of the city. Just the exterior walls of some fortresses and palaces stood upwards of 30-45 feet tall. Very little survives today. #worldheritage #archaeology #history #merv #turkmenistan #centralasia #asia #umayyad #turks #daily #ancient #ancienthistory #silkroad #unesco - @archeologyweekly on Instagram

Muitos me perguntaram onde fica Maia. O Concelho do Porto, onde ficam as principais atrações. . . #portugal🇵🇹 #viajarparaportugal #feriasemportugal #amoportugal #consultoradeviagens #turismoemportugal #portugalsemfiltro #portugaldenorteasul #turismodeportugal #coisasdoportoPT #coisasdoporto🇵🇹 #porto #nortedeportugal #amar_porto #visitporto #visitportugal - @coisas_do_porto on Instagram

“Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.” —3 Nephi 11:10–11 Jesus Christ appeared to the people in the Book of Mormon. But before He did, He invited them to come unto Him multiple times. He extends this same invitation to us as well, promising us eternal life if we do so. (See 3 Nephi 9:14.) What’s one thing you can do this week to accept His invitation? - @thebookofmormon on Instagram
