The Maasai have been creating beaded jewelry for a very long time. It all started long before the first European contact had occurred. Before, the tribe used natural resources to create their jewelry. Clay, wood, bone, copper and brass are just few of the materials that were used. When trade with Europeans started in the late 19th century, glass beads were suddenly available, and it is with those that the Maasai decided to continue their tradition of beaded jewels. Maasai women are the ones in charge of the beading. It’s their duty to be able to craft such unique jewelry that is later worn by both men and women. The beaded jewels accompany the tribe through all stages of life. Indeed, the colors and the structure of the beaded necklaces can indicate someone’s age, social status, marital status, and even whether a woman has given birth to a boy or a girl. • • • • #Maasai #TembeaKenya #Africa #Afrika #AfrikaInPictures #Nature #Africans #African #GainWithXtianDela #BeautifulAfrica #Safari #AfricanSafari #morocco #Nigeria #Tanzania #Kenya #zanzibar #Ghana #southafrica - @afrikainpictures on Instagram

Not to negate our collective stolen African slave ship trauma nor enslaved horrors that are truth. But I have always identified with this. My grandfather (moms father) told me years ago before my 9th bday, claiming his grandmother was Choctaw native...That’s 4 generations before me. #african #aboriginal #native #black The schools drill one narrative. #whitewashing (his-story) Only Asians over the Bering Strait denies any other geographical topography or pre Columbus oceanic navigation or skewing /omitting non Eurocentric historical story / timelines. 💪😍 - @conhecimentonegr_o21 on Instagram

THE MAASAI WARRIORS (MORRANS) Maasai warriors are trained, they become war specialist on combat war( Traditional warfare using spears, Bows & Arrows and swords) Traditionally the Maasai are not Blacksmiths so they befriend blacksmith tribes(Datoga & dorobo) and assure them protections within Maasai land territories, as they dont rare cows, goats and sheep, They feed on wild Animals which Maasai doesnt, so they dont end up fighting over property ownership. The first big training a warrior must learn from his superiors is how the goat, cow or sheep is slaughtered. Mostly there is a lot of goat slaughtering in any Manyattas or villages, because of guests welcoming, preparing medicine for the sick or welcoming a new born baby. Boys are always there, eager learn how from their fathers or seniors. As shown in the picture every warrior must have his own sharp sword to participate in bull slaughtering, they must master on how to separate every joint and every muscle and who it belong to (every portion or part is named and has its rightful owners from the all ages and divide of the Maasai society). A whole bull in our tradition teachings has 26( as in one piece most are pairs) different parts excluding, the skin, head and hooves. There is strict traditional norms and rules that has to be observed and monitored by elders or anyone when slaughtering in our cultural practices, first you stub the cow with a sharp object in a hole at the back of the neck, it cuts the spinal cord, disrupt the connection to the brain. The hole doesnt waste a lot of much needed blood, then it is suffocated using a fine sheep skin tied around the bulls mouth, doing so keeps vain warm so the blood could not clot easily before a big gush hole is open at the belly using sharp sword through, all the way to the heart arteries to release enough blood for many warriors. THEN THE BLOOD IS FOR ALL AND SOME FOR THE OCCASION. EVERYONE LOVE TO HAVE THE FIRST COUNT, THEN THE SKINNING PROCESS BEGINS, STARTING FROM THE RIGHT TO THE LEFT SIDE.......ITS A RITUAL THAT SOME SKIN IS LEFT ATTACHED TO THE HOOVES, TAIL AND ON THE HEAD! #maasaiwarriors #maasaiculture #maasaivillage #maasaitribe #maasaipeople - @maasai_tribe on Instagram

#ibeji - @faleafrofuturo on Instagram
