This happened on this date Saturday Night Live . I wanted to have a projection of Mt St Helens erupting behind us. In ode to the Northwest and to where were are from and the marking of history and nature. That day i kept my inner sadness about Ian Curtis to myself , 15 or 16 years earlier he died on that day the day of Mt St Helens erupting actually first time i cried about someone i didn’t know. On a cool aside though I remember looking at Don Pardo’s tea steeping next to his reading glasses and newspaper in his vocal booth. If i could paint its one i would do for sure. The history and the professionalism talk about steeped!!! That booth was so exact to the second even the steam rising was on time and welcomed into the light shining down. Such a nightly ritual. He. wasnt in there but his stuff was. We actually had a skit that was cut from the show too hahaha That night was the last time we saw Jeff Buckley. At the end of the show you can see me lift my arms over my head and if you do that with your shadow it makes an eye. Life update for mental health stuff, it’s long, felt cute, might delete later. . . . . . Ok. So I’m just trying to alleviate some pressure here. My hope is that putting this all out into the world will lighten the load of some of the guilt, shame, and denial I’ve been carrying the past two years. This is a journal entry that I’m putting in public because I need to not care who sees it. I am a dramatic writing major and I made a mistake in high school when I decided to leave performing behind. And then I kept making that mistake every time afterward that I pushed down that want in an attempt to convince myself that it wasn’t a mistake. Because I was ashamed of having made a mistake. College, the first big choice you make in your entire life, a misfire. At first, I thought it’d be okay to dismiss that dream as something totally unattainable. But seeing so many friends either from high school or at NYU pursuing it so unabashedly made me realize that maybe it wasn’t an absolute impossibility. Or even if it was, that I should have at least tried. So I’m going to now. I’m staying in my major. I’ll see that to the end because when I do write I do love it. But I’ll also start calling myself an actor even if I feel like I don’t deserve it. I’ll go to classes outside of school. Because fuck it I have to try. I regret not having the college theatre program experience but that’s in the past and I can’t look back. In other words, I saw Hadestown and it was amazing. - @whatcha_dewing on Instagram

Com o super @mikesternguitar , em 2006. Quando cheguei em Nova Iorque, sem conhecer nada, nem ninguém do meio musical, dividia um quarto com mais 3 colegas numa pensão. Esta es una de las actividades que conmemoran los 79 años del cineasta chileno Raúl Ruiz y sin duda, una oportunidad única para ver la película dirigida por el cineasta en los meses previos al golpe de estado y estrenada en 1992. La película, basada la novela homónima de Enrique Lafourcade (1927-2019), es considerada como una de las obras más importantes del cine chileno, en tanto el disco “Palomita Blanca” es el tercer álbum de Los Jaivas, producción donde la banda integró temáticas del Chile de ese momento, junto al trabajo creativo de la improvisación. “La versión que se presentará en esta oportunidad corresponde a la restauración realizada en los laboratorios de la Cineteca Nacional de Chile en 2016, trabajo de rescate que permitió recuperar el color original de la película gracias a una cuidada restauración de imagen realizada por la Cineteca y supervisada por Silvio Caiozzi, director de fotografía y camarógrafo de la cinta. El trabajo sonoro, en tanto, fue realizado en la productora Filmosonido, bajo la supervisión de Marcos de Aguirre”, indica la Cineteca Nacional de Chile. At this point in time dance music was really picking up steam in the US and the annual Winter Music Conference was growing in leaps and bounds. This year would be memorable as it was also the launching of the Ultra Music Festival, which our Josh Wink would be one of the headliners on. At that time the festival actually took place on the beach and was nowhere the size of what it has become in recent years with its eventual move downtown. During the early days of the Winter Music Conference, there were not as many events as the crowd was primarily limited to industry insiders, artists, and group of hardcore fans. By 1999 the Conference was becoming a destination for fans of dance music all over the world as it was their opportunity to see many of their favorite acts in one location. By 1999, the Ovum Party had cemented itself as a cant miss event on the WMC weekly calendar and the Living Room had become the events annual home. The Living Room was an intimate space that during regular operation was a swanky luxe bottle service venue. It had an intimate main dance floor as well as a backroom. The cue would start building early in the evening and the party would fill quickly causing quite a scene on Washington Avenue with people trying to get into the venue. It was always an interesting mix to see the Living Rooms regular clientele mixing with the WMC crowd. By the end of the night everyone would be dancing together and joining in the groove! This year the main room was being held down by our very own David Alvarado who had recently joined the Ovum fold and our main man Josh Wink. And if that wasn’t a mouthful, Carmine is also a drum paraphernalia innovator (his signature model drum sticks feature a really cool, innovative tip cut into the butt end of the stick and he also created his “shade” effect cymbal). It’s pretty fair to say big brother, Carmine is living legend. From Vinny at 16 playing on sessions and doing overdub hand claps in the studio with John Lennon, to becoming one of hard rock’s first call drummers, Vinny’s playing is no bullshit, solid AF! As dark, evil and heavy as his dragon slaying groves are, there is an immense swing to his back beat and pocket! Yes, he has the HUGE drum kits for the “big rock show” and he rips around them to excite and delight the audience, but if you really listen to the meat and potatoes of what he’s playing or choosing NOT to play (aka the space/breath/air in the grooves) it’s like none other. Even though I haven’t had the pleasure of making his acquaintance, from what I gather, Vinny is funny. Really funny, and can light up a room with the many stories only this industry veteran can share. Y claro, lo más importante: que no falte nadie de la 2da. Durante el acto había que seguir cuidando esa tribuna, la que Néstor y Cristina tenían de frente. Agité y me emocioné desde el paraavalancha.
