One of the primary causes of excessive sleepiness is self-imposed sleep deprivation. 😣 Catching up on your latest fave series or doing overtime work at home may not be such a good idea at all. That 1 hour can turn to 2 or 3 and before you know it its already 2am and you need to be up by 7am for an important meeting. Also, your exposure to blue light from your electronic gadgets messes up your circadian rhythm and pushing back your sleep to another hour or more if youre not wearing your blue light blockers.👓📱 You know youd ace your tasks better if you have enough rest, right? Make sure that as you plan out your day, remember to also include your sleep schedule 📝 AND to strictly adhere to it. Hi friends, it’s been a while. We took a little time to mute ourselves and then took an actual break from social media for about a week. After 11 weeks of Covid, and trying to sustain our business I was reaching complete burn out and needed a minute to re-connect with my family (kids!) and nature. Sorry if we left you hanging, I felt I was in a pickle and didn’t know of a graceful way to let you know I needed some space, so I just leaned into the silence and hoped you would have grace with me. So…Thank You. We have been doing a lot of thinking,discussing, and reading. We wanted to address the current issues at hand, but also wanted to do it in a way that didn’t seem contrived. When the Marches and Black Lives Matter rallies started happening downtown, we wanted to show up for our community. We were able to offer free coffee and a few hundred “World Peace Cookies” to our locals. It was a small way we as a business could give back. We know the world needs more than coffee and pastries but for us it was a start and we’ll always remember standing downtown w/ you, serving you! Last night we met as a whole staff. I needed time to process with them before speaking (on IG) for our business. I can speak for myself, but it’s my responsibility to acknowledge that Scout is made up of 30 unique and wonderful voices. I am here to let you know that I believe in equality for all, and I absolutely believe Black lives matter. We all do. We are committed to creating a more loving and peaceful world. For now, I will leave you with Sentiments from the Scout Staff: “ As a member of the Scout team I want everyone who walks through our cafes to feel safe, like they belong, and are celebrated. No matter their color, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. HEALTH UPDATE: Hi friends, I will be undergoing cancer surgery this Tuesday morning, August 25th at 7:30 AM. After speaking to seven different top doctors and weighing all the pros and cons of undergoing chemo and radiation first, we opted the surgery route. I am told they can get the cancer out and I won’t need chemo nor radiation following (unless they find something else during surgery). I’m stage 1. I’ll be at USC Keck for five days and then need about 4 to 6 weeks for recovery. Please pray for me on Tuesday morning and ask God to work through my surgeon, Dr. Sang Lee, so that he performs the best surgery he has ever performed in his life!!! I am so grateful for all your prayers and well wishes. I’ve read every single comment and you have helped keep my spirits up and my mind positive. I feel extremely blessed to have such a powerful support system. I know I will come out of this stronger and will use this experience to pay it forward. As a last note, if you’re 45 or older, PLEASE GET YOUR COLONOSCOPIES!! They’re a walk in the park compared to the journey I’m about to embark. Girl before a Mirror, 1932 . This image of a young woman and her mirror reflection is riotous in color and chockablock with pattern. It is one of the last in a major series of canvases that Picasso created between 1931 and 1932. According to The Museum of Modern Art’s founding director, Alfred H. Barr, Jr., Picasso said he “preferred this painting to any of the others,” which speaks to the painting’s dazzling visual and thematic complexity. Its primary subject is the time-honored artistic theme of a woman before her mirror, reinvented in strikingly modern terms. The girl’s smoothly painted profile, in a delicately blushing pink-lavender, abuts a heavily built-up and garishly colored frontal view in yellow and red. Allusions to youth and old age, sun and moon, light and shadow are compressed into a single multivalent face. . The female protagonist of Girl before a Mirror actively reaches out to embrace the mirror that frames her reflection—a nominally fleeting image that paradoxically displays a pronounced physicality. The picture’s rigorous symmetrical organization creates a structure against which the curves of the model’s head and body, as well as those of her reflection, register all the more strongly. Pérdida en las sábanas ❤️ Hace mucho que no me quedaba en pijama, perdida en las cobijas todo el día. Habría sido un fin de semana perfecto sino me hubiera picado un alacrán. De película de terror, se quedó prensado en el cabello y a la primera oportunidad que tuvo, me picó en la cara. Tardé un minuto en hincharme y ponerme roja, sentí palpitaciones dolorosas en el pecho y me hormiguea el cuerpo a un ritmo muy extraño. Tuve la mala suerte de escoger un manojo de té en el súper y llegó a casa para detenerme el corazón. Maldito. 🦂 Voy a tener mi momento Mulán y me cortaré el cabello por encima de los hombros, esta señal es la que estaba esperando. Me bañé con agua fría y tomé un par de relajantes musculares para aliviar el malestar y creo que funcionaron, porque sigo respirando. Aún tengo la asquerosa sensación de que algo me camina por el cuerpo. Qué horror. Me quedé un buen rato tirada en la cama con la toalla mal amarrada y sin fuerzas para vestirme, pensé en cómo algo tan diminuto puede causar tanto daño. No era más grande que mi pulgar y aun así, me entumio hasta las piernas. Las estiré para ver si los dedos de los pies tenían color. Sí. La sudoración de mis manos desapareció y estaba fría. Hace mucho que no veía mi cuerpo sin ropa, tengo prisa todo el tiempo que siempre voy corriendo de un lado a otro cuando me visto por las mañanas. Desde hace unos meses intentó crecer el amor propio, tomándome unos minutos para mirarme en el espejo y ser amable conmigo. No es como que algo en específico detonó mis inseguridades. Supongo que siempre han estado cerca y ya no quiero que sea así. Quiero quererme como soy. Hubo un tiempo en el que mi sonrisa me hacía sentir incómoda. Usé paladar casi tres años y por supuesto, hizo que me acostumbrara a reír inclinando la boca hacia un lado. Usé lentes antes de que se pusieran de moda, cuando en realidad te molestaban, ñoña. Esperaba tener la complexión de mi mamá, pero cuando llegué a tercero de secundaria y todas mis amigas empezaron a florecer, me pregunté cuándo llegaría mi turno, si la genética familiar jugaría a mi favor. La sua formazione comincia a Vittorio Veneto presso l’Istituto d’Arte Bruno Munari e prosegue oggi a Venezia alla Facoltà di ca’ Foscari presso il Dipartimento di Conservazione dei Beni Culturali. 🎓Nel 2014 ha ricevuto il Premio Internazionale ProArte a New York in occasione dell’anno della Cultura italiana negli USA. Nell’Opera dipinta su tela l’occhio inizia un percorso che non ha fine. A catturarti sono i volti delle sue ragazze ebbre di vita e di Prosecco, e non finiresti mai di guardarle di balzare da un volto all’altro, come ipnotizzata dai loro sguardi, con la percezione di un vento che le attraversa nei capelli, e nei volti le sospende.👩‍🦱 Le bollicine diventano fiori seguendo il loro evolversi fisico e fluttuano in una ricerca dell’elemento femminile, una scoperta della donna che non si ferma all’apparenza ma scava nel profondo💘. Although championed by key members of the Parisian avant-garde — including André Breton, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso — Baya remained true to her unique vision, continuously challenging entrenched national and cultural frameworks. In her paintings, she proposes an alternate mode of seeing: female figures intertwine with birds, fish, and flowers, which she arranges in recurring patterns that recall Arabic lettering and Islamic art. Her forthright depictions of the female body and the world surrounding it invite broader interrogations of stereotypes found in representations of women.⁣ ⁣ While demonstrating her awareness of the French avant-garde, Baya’s paintings also reflect the complex ruptures and transfers she experienced in her youth. Orphaned at the age of five, Baya was adopted in 1942 by a French intellectual who provided her with painting materials, an education, and access to art world luminaries. During a visit to Algeria in 1945, Aimé Maeght, a prominent French art dealer, saw Baya’s work and was instantly captivated. Soon he was displaying her paintings in exhibitions at Galerie Maeght in Paris: the International Surrealist Exhibition, organized by Breton, and a solo show.
