Tom Walkinshaw’s Porsche TWR The inside story of a champion racer. A quick look at the racing record book reveals that Porsches have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright a grand total of nineteen times, with a small asterisk behind two of those victories, as the wins in 1996 and 1997 were achieved by a car that was not built in Weissach, Germany, but rather in Valparaiso, Indiana. Maybe a second asterisk is also warranted, as the basic design of the Porsche TWR WSC95 can be directly traced back to the Jaguar XJR-14 Group C car of 1991. Henri et Jean-Louis prennent pour 3ème pilote un autre de leur ami: monsieur Jacques Laffite ! •Ils partent 15 ème à lissue des qualifications. Le trio dami ne cherche pas la victoire, mais simplement à samuser; lobjectif est de terminer les 24h. •Heures après heures, entre les abandons et les équipages plus rapide, notre Porsche maintien sa position. Bien que peu expérimenté, Jacques Laffite parvient rapidement à un bon rythme. Mais le moteur Porsche consomme plus dessence que prévu... Comme Pescarolo et Laffite roule vite mais que Ricci est plus lent, léquilibre se maintient et le problème de consommation est vite oublié! •Ormis un petit accrochage au petit matin qui cassera le phare avant gauche, la Porsche de Pescarolo termine 14 ème. This weeks Throwback Thursday features our 1974 Jaguar E-Type Group 44 Racing Car. In 1965 Bob Tullius founded his own racing team, Group 44 Inc. who would go onto winning hundreds of races and 10 SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) National Championships. Specifically to this E-Type, in 1975, the team won seven races, including the Road Atlanta National Finals. The teams success brought Jaguar back to Le Mans in 1984, for the first time in 27 years, with two Jaguar XJR-5 cars. Great race for PC2 WEC at @cota_official . LMP1 was pretty much decided when @hezz0 and @racing.at.midnight collided. With takumi over a minute behind @2019mustanggt500 had an easy cruise to victory. Not the @24heuresdumans we wanted...... Unfortunately we had to retire from the race in the 1st quarter after an aggressive contact from an LMP2 car for my teamate, the team did a great job to repair the car but unfortunatly the damage was heavy and the loss of time to repair the car put us totally out of contention. The decision was made to retire the car. A real shame as we were right in contention to fight for the podium before the contact. Huge thanks to the entire Spirit of Race team our Ferrari 488Gte was mega in the race and my co drivers @loscamerones and @aaronscottrace who are awesome. Mario et Michael Andretti ▪La Mirage M12 est un prototype de course conçue par John Horsman et assemblé dans les ateliers de Howden Ganley et du Tiga en Grande-Bretagne pour concourir dans la nouvelle catégorie #groupC des 24heures du Mans en 1982. Les 2 chassis construits ( M12-001 et M12-002) possède un V8 Ford Cosworth de 3.9 L de cylindrée. Bien que le bolide étais jugé un peu lourd, son aérodynamique avancé à laide de la nouvelle découverte de leffet de sol lui permettait datteindre les 340km/h en ligne droite. Ainsi, Harley Cluxton, propriétaire du GTC ayant racheté Gulf Research Racing (ou autrefois appelé John Wyer Automotive) engagea un seul modèle pour lépreuve mancelle (la deuxième voiture étais uniquement présente en tant que voiture de rechange). Coté équipage, le Champion du Monde de Formule 1 #MarioAndretti 1978 prendra part à létape accompagné de son fils Michael. Mais, malgré le 9ème temps des essais, le bolide sera disqualifié 20minutes avant le départ de lépreuve! En effet, le radiateur dhuile étant situé derrière la boîte de vitesse, se trouva non conforme par les commissaires, alors que lauto avait passé les vérifications techniques 4 jours plus tôt sans problème...Cette incident causa ainsi larrêt du programme pour le GTC et la chute de Mirage. . . . Arnaud Lagardère, fils de Jean-Luc Lagardère, a pretexté que sa firme était en faillite financière à la suite du Covid. Héritié de Matra, il confie la voiture à Arcurial pour la vente aux enchères de Retromobile 2021. Estimé entre 4 et 8 millions deuros, cest un creve coeur pour tout les passionnés. •Henri Pescarolo très attaché à ce patrimoine avec lequel il a construit sa carrière, pour ne pas dire sa vie; il est monté au créneau immédiatement: Cest scandaleux !
