This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, in which he attempted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research which sadly ended early when cancer overtook his lungs. Terry Fox has inspired countless runners to keep going and to use their own personal race goals to raise money. For many, supporting friends and family is the reason we started running and why we continue doing it. Facebook just reminded me that on this day 8 years ago I’d just returned from backpacking Europe for 3 months with two of my best mates where I had the epiphany that I needed to pursue Motorsport for a living. I sold my house, sold or packed my things and started a 3,440km (2,137 mile) drive to Melbourne to take the first steps. Today I started a drive that’s only 20km shorter to head from Austin to Seattle for round two of the Formula Drift championship. A huge thank you to our supporter Lorna Stanger, from Caithness, for raising an incredible £5,142 to help people living with cancer find their best way through. Lorna endured a jaw-dropping duathlon, running and cycling 755-miles over five days - starting from her home, running from Thurso to Inverness and cycling the famous North Coast 500. Wow! 😮 The original plan of running back to Thurso after cycling the North Coast 500 had to be changed, due to a knee injury. Determined to finish the challenge as planned, Lorna ran from Inverness to Thurso covering 112 miles in one day, only two weeks after completing the duathlon 🚲 🏃♀️ Covering the 755 miles of remote landscape, Lorna certainly wasnt alone. She was cheered on by friends, family and car horns tooting in support. Lorna is pictured here in our Macmillan greens: Wearing my Macmillan t-shirt made a huge difference.
