The last helmet I did for Robert was insane, so the bar was set high. He wanted this one to be more elegant and rich looking. He wanted engine turned gold, pearl white, and purple carbon. We kept a few elements from his old design. Such as the mouth area and the trident on the top. This one is a little less busy than his last one but still has a lot going on. He sort of liked the idea of an R on the side of his helmet integrated into the design but wasn’t sure. When I sent him the rendering with the R and how it fits in so well with the rest of the lines he loved it. Tom Walkinshaw’s Porsche TWR The inside story of a champion racer. A quick look at the racing record book reveals that Porsches have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright a grand total of nineteen times, with a small asterisk behind two of those victories, as the wins in 1996 and 1997 were achieved by a car that was not built in Weissach, Germany, but rather in Valparaiso, Indiana. Maybe a second asterisk is also warranted, as the basic design of the Porsche TWR WSC95 can be directly traced back to the Jaguar XJR-14 Group C car of 1991. Big Beta... 40 years ago Hans Heyer won the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. Prior the last race at the Hockenheimring, Lancia-driver Heyer was leading Schnitzer-BMW-driver Hans-Joachim Stuck by eleven points, who was the only rival for the championship title. Lancia entered a second car for Piercarlo Ghinzani, who dressed up as a copy of Heyer. Meanwhile Schnitzer BMW turned up with three cars for @strietzelstuck, Walter Brun and Harald Grohs. During the race Heyer suffered engine problems and retired, but still won the championship, as Stuck had retired too. On the first lap he tried to pass Heyer at the Ost-curve, but he got hit from another driver behind and went into the catchfences. Heyer won the DRM twice before.
