Happy Monday! Do you have a plan of action items to achieve your goals this week? Ive gotta admit - I have many dreams, but setting concrete, measurable goals is a key challenge. Im much more of a wing-it type person. ▪︎ This approach wont bring my long-term vision to life! I need a plan. I like to imagine my future playing on this movie screen. The empty seats present possibility Visualization & medication add focused structure. ▪︎ It was such a fun night....during the Cannes Film Festival, free movies play on the beach overlooking the Mediterranean Sea! Arrive early - seats go fast. As the sun sets, you can hear the announcer yelling out red carpet arrivals for the evening premiers. Food vendors wander up and down the aisles. This evening it was Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarnatino was there. ▪︎ Im thinking of dedicating one day to one core task each week... ▪︎ MON: Learning/research/personal development👩🏽‍🎓 ▪︎ TUES: writing⌨ ▪︎ WED: Concept development🌬 ▪︎ THU:  Networking / business prospecting🤝🏾 ▪︎ FRI: Wild card🦁 ▪︎ SAT: Design day 🎨 ▪︎ SUN: partnerships/pitching, market research / comp analysis 🎰 ▪︎ It might take longer this way-Earl Nightingale said it well....never give up on a dream because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway! Wowee! This past weekend we took home the award for Best Student Shortwork at the @whisfilmfest! This is an insane and unexpected win for us! Our film New Washing Machine, was screened alongside some really excellent films in our block, each made by students from VFS, UBC, SFU, Capilano U and Emily Carr! Many of these schools have dedicated film programs with tons of camera and gear support as well as professional industry training! This is why it’s so insane that our film, a project made during my time at @ufvsoca, which does not (yet) have a film program, won the award! What @ufvsoca has going for it are some truly excellent professors that pushed me to bend the rules and make films and study filmmaking within a traditional fine arts program! @directormelanie was the first one to inspire me but there were so many others: @brenda.fredrick, Grace Tsuramaru, @shelley.stefan, Tersuomi Anzai, and Geoff Carr to name a few! Documentaries about family members, a day in the life of the family dog, sequels to my movies, film noirs, thrillers, dramas, comedies, westerns, stop-motion animation, and multiple toilet paper heist films. Thank you to everyone who submitted a short film and to anyone who has watched a submission. The response to this idea has been nothing short of amazing and the creativity I’ve seen has been inspiring. We received over 2,000 short film entries from around the world and hundreds of messages from people saying this challenge brought their family together during this unusual time. The #CormanChallenge was even an assignment for a high school film class in New Jersey. Like with any contest, it will take time to make sure none of the films get overlooked. However, we will keep watching and I will soon announce the winner of The First (and hopefully last) Corman Quarantine Film Festival and unveil the Golden FaceMask Award for best director. A moda consciente, o slow fashion e o upcycling fazem parte da história de Keyla a bastante tempo e ela teve oportunidade de mostrar todo o seu talento no Desfile de Moda do IED Rio que aconteceu em dezembro de 2019, nas ruínas do Cassino da Urca.⠀ “Eu vivo de forma consciente há muitos anos, não consumo carne, as poucas vezes que compro roupa eu compro em brechó e limito a quantidade que tenho, não uso sacolas nem copos de plástico etc. Enfim, o básico para ter um impacto menos agressivo no meio ambiente.⠀ Ao meu ver muito do upcycling no Brasil vem das camadas de base da população. O pobre brasileiro faz upcycling bem antes da reutilização criativa ganhar um nome em inglês. Meu primeiro interesse parte daí. Em muitos momentos da minha vida eu não podia comprar roupa e era ali na repaginação de alguma roupa usada que havia ganho que a minha criatividade aflorava. Anos depois coordenei o ateliê de upcycling da Casa Geração Vidigal e tive mais conhecimento teórico e espaço de experimentação.⠀ No IED eu mergulhei mais fundo no universo da sustentabilidade na moda e pude ter uma boa visão desse mercado em uma escala maior.“⠀ #iedrio #ied #design #escoladedesign - @iedrio on Instagram

It’s true!!! A very special family event on Saturday, September 26th is happening in Santa Ynez! We received clearance and licensing to hold a safely distanced outdoor movie in Santa Ynez! The movie will be Disney’s “Secretariat” rated PG. This is a true story of “Secretariat” the horse that became an American Triple Crown winner. It is a story of hope and unlikely odds. Entry gate on Meadowvale will open at 6:00 pm with show beginning at 7:30 pm. Plan to mosey into town early and look for the painted horses grazing about, you will vote on your favorite as you enter the “starting gate” to drive in. Make this a night out for dinner and a movie with a reservation for outdoor dining at a local restaurant or pickup an order to go. Space will be marked off for your car and you are required to wear a mask when driving in and at all times when outside of vehicle. All safety protocols must be followed. On March 9th, high school and university students from various institutions across New York attended a somber commencement ceremony about the futures we are unlikely to have in the shadow of the climate crisis. Mouths were taped to symbolize the lack of student voice in educational decision making and our institutions’ refusal to listen to student concerns about climate. Too often education puts profits and prestige first, indoctrinating individuals into a colonial, neoliberal, and extractavist system that ignores both human and planetary limits. hi everyone ✨ just wanted to share a little exciting news. @inbetweensseries was officially selected as a part of @nfftyfilm 2020 line up & also got nominated for best documentary, which is uh..... my very first time ever for my project to be nominated for something??? 😭 for those who may not know, i started a little docu series project last year called in-between(s), as a way to explore the different stories within the asian diaspora here in the US. though my vision was to create a 10-episode series, we only ended up being able to make the pilot episode (which i’m still proud of!). i hope that this will open up more doors for this docu series, and that this can continue later in the future this will also be my last film i can ever submit to NFFTY! because i have reached the age limit lmfaooo. NFFTY has been one of those festivals that continued to be a constant thing in my life & have led me to meet so many amazing folks who also ended up becoming my close friends thank you NFFTY! for having in-between(s) as a part of this year’s line up & i’m honored that this project is also one of the nominees for best documentary category. and also thank you to all the in-between(s) crew and everyone who supported us and helped us make this happen! - @aniss.a___ on Instagram

:: City of Widows - Best Doc Short Nomination :: . . . So proud to announce that an immense labor of love has been nominated for Best Documentary Short at the RainDance Film Festival. Director @laceyuhle, writer @carlyhebert1, AC @dad_shoe_swag and I embarked on an intense and incredible journey last year to document widows in India celebrating Holi. It was challenging, beautiful and very raw. With the help of a fantastic Indian film team led by field producer Komal Rawat, we pushed ourselves to the brink and forged a cinematic experience in a beautifully chaotic place. Over the next few days I look forward to sharing some grabs and discussing execution. These first grabs were from sunrise on the Ganges River. The first 10 minutes of sunrise are always magical as the city purposefully kept the east side of the river empty so they can welcome the sunrise unobstructed. Mother Ganga is the most spiritual river in Hinduism and Varanasi serves as a spiritual center. Millions have flocked to Varanasi for the past 3,500 years cleansing their souls in the Ganges’ water. In the last photo, the fires are open cremation pits. He’s made a living as a fisherman in Bodega Bay for 55 years and, for him, the ocean is home. Dal 27 agosto al 5 settembre, nella secca retrostante l’isola della Giudecca, sono state organizzate una serie di proiezioni su una piattaforma galleggiante dedicate ai possessori di mezzi nautici e non solo. La programmazione ha proposto unofferta molto eterogenea: film, corti, video dartista.
