Tom Walkinshaw’s Porsche TWR The inside story of a champion racer. A quick look at the racing record book reveals that Porsches have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright a grand total of nineteen times, with a small asterisk behind two of those victories, as the wins in 1996 and 1997 were achieved by a car that was not built in Weissach, Germany, but rather in Valparaiso, Indiana. Maybe a second asterisk is also warranted, as the basic design of the Porsche TWR WSC95 can be directly traced back to the Jaguar XJR-14 Group C car of 1991. If we remove all the wraps, this Veyron is the only one of the 450 built, made with orange as the main color. It was also one of the very first Grand Sport Vitesse, originally used for promotionals and test drives in the USA, which means that it could theorically have inspired more customers. Race 3 didn’t go to plan with the reverse grid, hit some oil from the previous race on the outside of Druid’s as I went for a lunge, there was nothing I could of done as it just sent me into a massive slide on the brakes and then into a spin 🤦🏽♂️ After that I fought back up to P14... But nevertheless an absolutely mega weekend overall with a 2nd and a race win in the National Championship against a seriously competitive field. (Arguably the most competitive ever). My first National FF1600 win since 2016. This is Ferrari FXX-K Evo #79 finished in Traffic White with Light Blue Sport accents. This particular car, chassis number #216456, started it’s life in one of the most unique specifications. It was finished in Matt Black with pink accents and wore numbers #66 before being upgraded and respecified by the factory. The previous owner, Simon Yin, also owns in matching specification; Pagani Zonda 760 JC #76127, Koenigsegg One:1 #7108 and many other hypercars. He tracked the car twice in 2016 (Shanghai and Hockenheimring) and once in 2017 (Shanghai). This FXX-K was then converted to an Evo and bought by its current owner through @apcorse. It was first seen in the current configuration November 12th during a private track day at Slovakiaring. In honor of us recently hitting 2,000+ followers, today we’re going to post an extremely special car: The Apollo IE. • If you’re local to the New York/Connecticut area there’s a chance you may have recently gotten the chance to see this car at this past years @dreamrideexp event, if not, well, there’s a chance you may never even see this car at all, anywhere. The reason for that is because only 10 units of the Apollo IE are set to be built, with a base price of $2,700,000. Cleary, the Apollo IE is not only extremely rare, but also very costly and visibly one of the craziest cars of all time. • The IE in the name stands for ‘Intensa Emozione’ which is Italian for intense emotion. Underneath the hood of the Apollo IE is a monstrous 6.3L V12 that produces a claimed 780 horsepower. The Apollo IE is the first vehicle made by Apollo in 14 since their new ownership, the last model they made was called the Gumpert Apollo. The Apollo IE was first revealed on October 24th, 2017, and each car built will be entirely different from the last. This Apollo IE is given the name ‘Apollo IE ML Chameleon Golden Dragon’. The ML in the name is claimed to stand for “Meaningful Life”, where as the Golden Dragon part represents the theme and design of the car itself. The ‘Chameleon’ part of the name is defined by the way the car changes colors under certain lighting. The car is finished in exposed carbon fiber with a good mix of colors such as red, purple and gold. • The owner of this exact car is on instagram as @fastcarsandguns, and he also happens to own the one-off Koenigsegg Agera ML. The IE is built on an all carbon fiber chassis with a carbon monocoque and has a total curb weight of just 2755lbs. The light-weight body is part of the reason as to why the IE is capable of a top speed of up to 208 mph and a 0-60mph time of just 2.7 seconds. The Apollo IE is a result of extreme creativity, a passionate CEO (@project_p.ie ), and a hard working team with the desire to create something never seen before.
