Just one day after I complained about being pregnant for too long, my babe made her grand entrance.😆Every mom can understand the relief, exhaustion and pure love I’m feeling in this photo, captured minutes after birth. She came within 4 hours of us getting to the hospital, I almost ran out of time to get the epidural but did in the end — only to have it kick in for about 20 mins as I pushed her out (not enough pain relief!) The contractions were even worse and more intense than my first labour, and I remember thinking ‘I don’t know if I have the strength to do this today’ but I womaned-up and my body did the rest of the work when my mind felt weak. It’s really amazing what we’re capable of as women. I’m so happy she’s here, and I’ll be squeezing her like this forever.❤️ - @mombosspodcast on Instagram

Quero apresentar pra vcs o Antônio, meu filho. Hoje ele está com quase 4 meses, mas nessa imagem ele está com pouco mais de 3. Agora as apostas são: vai ser a cara do pai ou da mãe? Sem dúvidas o acontecimento mais marcante na vida de um casal é quando eles se tornam país pela primeira vez. E para nós homens, especialmente, a ideia de ser pai nos enche de orgulho, principalmente se o filho for um menino. Mas é muito comum encontrar homens que sentem um certo medo, ou até desespero quando lhe perguntam sobre filhos. Ao contrário das mulheres, onde é mais fácil encontrar quem deseja muito ser mãe. Mas porque será que nós homens, em geral, temos mais medo de ter filhos que as mulheres? Acredito que esse medo ou desespero, seja porque não nos ensinaram a ser pais. Só nos ensinaram a sermos fortes e a pagar as contas. Dificilmente vemos homens que sabem qual o seu real papel na família. Também é difícil ver homens compartilhando entre si as experiências da paternidade. Quando nos reunimos, é só para falar de negócios, política e muitas besteiras. O que chamamos de “assuntos de homem”. Ainda vivemos os reflexos de uma geração onde o dever do homem era trabalhar para sustentar sua família e a educação dos filhos ficava à cargo da mulher. Nossa lei, por exemplo, garante uma licença-paternidade de apenas 20 dias, no máximo, enquanto que para as mães a licença é de 120 dias, podendo chegar a 180. É muito comum ver pais (jovens até) que entregam a maior parte das responsabilidades com os filhos para as mães. A educação dos filhos deve ser compartilhada entre o casal e cada um desempenha um papel diferente e complementar. Não estou falando de fazer dormir, dar banho, levar para a creche ou ensinar a tabuada. Esses são deveres e qualquer um pode fazer. O papel é individual e tem a ver com os valores que transmitimos para os nossos filhos. Se nós homens tivéssemos o conhecimento desse papel que devemos exercer, o medo de ser pai seria muito menor e o desejo muito maior. Confesso que antes eu tinha um pouco de medo sim. “Our pregnancy was a pleasant surprise after a year of trying! We were about to call the doctor and confirm we could actually have our own kids - we had been trying so long without luck that we wanted to confirm it was a possibility without the defeat of a negative pregnancy test again and again. Then covid hit - and all non-essential visits to the doctor were suspended, so we decided to just lay low, try not to stress, and see what happened with the virus. About a month later I took a test the first day of my missed period, in mid-April. When the test read positive I could barely believe it. The lines looked faint. Maybe it wasn’t right? So I took 3 more to confirm! At that point I was convinced and couldn’t wait to tell my husband as soon as he woke up. We were so thrilled and decided that maybe all the stressing had been holding us up - we needed a distraction like covid to take our minds off it and just let it happen! I ordered some donuts from our favorite local spot, and asked them to write inside the box lid. A friend picked them up for me and left them at our front door so I didn’t have to leave the house and arouse suspicion. When my husband opened up the box he was confused at first (was my friend announcing her pregnancy to us for some reason?) and then realized once he saw the tests that this was OUR good news. Today we went for our first obstetrician appointment. We should have gone in sooner but... Our obstetrician is a wonderful man who did my endometriosis surgery and who saw us through our pregnancy with Leo as well as being the one to remove our little Leo. As wonderful as he is I have still been avoiding him a little. With Leo, I saw him every week from 4 weeks until we had to say goodbye at 14 weeks. Sometimes I would even go in twice a week to calm me down if I needed to see Leo for assurances he was still there. But this time Ive been trying to stress less, trust the process and if Im being honest I have been avoiding most scans and anything medical because of the anxiety I get before appointments these days. Knowing this, my ob left me alone until I got a gentle jokey message last week telling me it was time to come in. When we walk in he gets me straight on the bed for a scan knowing I wont relax until I see bubs. My hands are sweaty. Holding my breath the probe and the gel hits my stomach until there Poppy is. The past years have been lets say - challenging. Beautiful, wonderful, amazing - but challenging. Early 2017 I became Lilous co-parent - she was only 9 months old. So I had to learn quick, find a new home after living with my mom for a few months and basically restart life as I knew it. Getting through that phase changed me as a man. I felt like this was the life that was written for me forever. I couldnt imagine a life with a new partner (lord knows I tried). I was working every minute Lilou wasnt with me and spent every minute with her when she was. There was basically zero space left for me to develop a relationship... Plot twist. The universe decided to give me what I asked for and since that day - its been a dream. Having a new addition to this little family of 2, Milou has been a significant change in our lives. The list of requirements was long for the right person in my life. Because it demanded alot of patience and space for me to be a father to Lilou (the single most important girl in my life). It asked of her to be in love, while being able to give the freedom to me to focus on being a dad. So now we have this beautiful home together, a beautiful life and an endless amount of joy. I still have to get used to it sometimes lol. No stress, weird. But Im not writing these long stories without reason. Because something special happened. We wanted it, Lilou requested it and before we knew it we all got our wishes granted. The universe sometimes acts FAST if you want something with the right kind of love. Sometimes dreams do come true. Lilou is becoming a (probably the sweetest) big sister and Milou is getting her life long wish of having a child. Last but not least, I get another shot at family. A home for my daughter, my love and now my future little baby filled with love and happiness. Ive slept so well recently and it feels like theres a good reason for it. ❣️ - @marc_haers on Instagram

During my first pregnancy, I read all the books and felt prepared for everything. The one topic that was NEVER discussed was how to handle unsolicited advice from people especially when it’s from your family members. Immediately after delivery, it started. The “you should do this”, “this is how I did it”, “maybe she’s not getting enough milk”, blah blah blah BLAH! I had a plan. My plan was working. My baby was thriving and I just wanted to tell everyone to shut up! I know people don’t mean any harm and they just want to “help”. The part that I didn’t understand was that I didn’t ask for the advice. I am independent and don’t ask for help unless I REALLY need it. If my baby had gas, I heard “give some gripe water” but I didn’t feel comfortable giving it at such a young age (7 days old). Gentle bicycle leg motions were just enough to give her relief and I was satisfied with that. I got to a point where it was just too much. I wanted to cry because even though everything was fine I felt as though all the comments were making me feel like I wasn’t doing my best. The feelings of guilt and inadequacy started taking over my mind. I was worried about hurting other people’s feelings and eventually realized that I had to put my foot down. I started to say “no” and educate others on why their suggestions might not always be what’s right. My way of taking care of my baby was different from theirs BUT the end result was the same- a happy and healthy baby. The moment I started saying “no” and set boundaries, things started to change. It was awkward at first but I was confident as a mother and I knew what was best for MY child. Be TRANSPARENT and say NO. The sooner you do it, the easier it will be. I got my message across which made my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies so much better. Everyone backed off and let me be a mother MY way. Don’t let others ruin your happiness and your journey with your baby. Your job isn’t to please others. Your job is to be a mother to your baby and do what’s best for YOUR family. - @talesfromthe4th on Instagram

This is a very bitter sweet post. As one journey ends another journey begins. I am here to “officially” (social media wise) notify you all that I have permanently resigned from doing eyelashes. Luscious Lashes by Lianna is no longer in service. I will still continue to run @paragonlashesau as per usual but my eyelash extension services has come to an end. It has been the most amazing year of my life and I cannot thank you all enough for your support, love and business. Thank you so much to each and every client as well as each and every fan ❤️ You all have allowed me to go down a path that I myself could not have imagined. It was a hard decision to make but as a few of you know I have actually fallen pregnant. Pregnancy has not been all sunshine and rainbows for me which is why I have had to make the decision I made. With @paragonlashesau picking up 2 folds since establishing running 2 full time businesses with a 2.5 year old, constant morning sickness and zero energy is quite impossible. Pregnancy for some may be quite “normal” but again as some of you already know I have PCOS and my journey of trying for a second child has been long and tiresome. I fell pregnant against all odds, it was a miracle really. I guess it really happens when you’ve given up so as hard as it is to give up this business I am giving it up for something money could never buy for me. Em épocas de distanciamento social, hoje foi daqueles dias em que a saudade da nossa rotina apertou ainda mais... a rotina de fazer o bem, a rotina de trazer de volta à dignidade e o sorriso a tantas crianças, que em meio a pandemia do Covid-19, tiveram seus sonhos e de suas famílias adiados. Everyone, please send my wife your best vibes and prayers if you pray. To say this pregnancy has been challenging would be an understatement. We didn’t announce we were pregnant for a long time, truthfully, because we weren’t sure what was going to happen. Nicole has been dealing with a massive fibroid for most of the pregnancy. It’s the biggest our doc has ever seen and we named him Mordy (aka Voldemort). Mordy banished her to bed rest since January. He’s been causing all kinds of scary moments for us: multiple frenzied rushes to the hospital, overnights. Heck, he’s the main reason I left a new job, to be home more and present with my family. In fact, three days before Heath was born we had to rush to the hospital due to another round of serious hemorrhaging, scared as can be, hoping for the best. We’re so thankful Heath came out healthy and happy, and a natural birth at that! He left Mordy in the dust. But my wife was back in the hospital two days ago, post birth, and needed immediate surgery. Now she’s back in again tonight, for a more serious surgery. Hoping our doc removes our buddy Mordy for good and we can start to move on with our lives. Please send her your best intentions. Much love. - @brettkirk on Instagram
