Celebrating my birthday by posting my all time favorite series for my all time favorite handheld (Vita, I will always love you even if Sony didn’t) MGS2 and 3 are some of my favorite games of all time (as you’ll see in my Top 100 list coming later this year 👀) and two of the most important works the medium has ever produced. I started making videos when I was 16 and my church needed someone to create visual content. I wouldn’t be A filmmaker if it wasn’t for the Church giving me the opportunity in the first place. Today everything came full circle and @finderspictures was asked to produce this piece for Good Friday. While our small team worked 6 feet apart, with very little sleep, wearing masks and gloves it reminded me that our talent and art is needed during times like Covid-19 to help communicate hope to our world. The great message of the gospel is shared today in this visual experience live on marinerschurch.org. This shoot was put together in 24hours and I couldn’t be more proud of our team and their willingness to sacrifice time away from their families. In no way can I compare this to working on the front lines like our nurses and doctors. I can’t imagine what that’s like right now but I do know we all have the responsibility to communicate hope. Another great #riverwondergrass ~ We put in at the Gates of Lodore in a snow storm and drank hot cocoa to warm our insides. The next morning the sun slowly lifted the cold shadow of the canyon walls. From then on out we were graced with all the warmth a late summer could provide. With the brilliant musical vibes of @_thornpipe_ and @flatpicktyler ~ each evening was embellished with folk ballads and bluegrass. A foray into an ancient display juxtaposed with Mac Miller covers and GoPro footage of it all. Thanks once again @scottybonfire @winterwondergrass @ellie.kailana and @adriftdinosaur for the continued adventure. Took a crack at Hank Mobley’s solo on Ceora. It’s got all the necessary ingredients for a solo: top notch note choice, mindful use of space (something us bass and guitar players often forget about) and one or two face-melters in there for good measure... I’m feeling extra inspired by my bass brothers and sisters lately. A busy visual. I did a full-blown gear shootout this afternoon to see what I could pare down before a rehearsal tonight. I’m pretty content with the guitars. It’s those amps; I just cant decide whether I can use that Supro enough to make it worth keeping; the Bassman is loud and rowdy and the Deluxe is my everyday amp.(Ill reiterate that the Marshall is ridiculous and doesn’t come into serious gear conversations). I’m not a collector, so if something gets a little dusty, I like to move it along.
