Yesterday I finished a difficult run I had been contemplating for years. It’s an aesthetic route that traverses Great Smoky Mountain National Park, East to West, along a 70 mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail (AT). I carried all my food and drank from water sources along the AT. I finished in 15 hours and 6 mins, and when verified would be the fastest known unsupported time along that route. I had so much fun spending a day in SMNP. I’ve been silently working my way back to fitness, and It has been a long and patient process.. After MRI results showed that I had developed osteitis pubis and pubic symphysis, I unfortunately had to make the decision to forgo my indoor season last January and shut things down to focus on my health and recovery. I took 8 weeks off from running, cross training in the pool which eventually turned just stationary biking due to the closures of gyms and pools. I took another 4 weeks to ease my way back to running on the ground by alternating between walking and jogging. As shitty as Covid-19 has been, I was relieved when the spring outdoor track season was canceled. The pressure to figure out when I would be ready to compete again as a Buff went away. I could truly just focus on the process at hand, making sure I didn’t have to deal with any hiccups along the way. Taking a 6th year was definitely a discussion my coaches and I had prior to making the decision to take time off and forgo the indoor track season. We wanted to make sure I could finish out my time as a Buff the best way possible, and give me the best opportunity to run post-collegiately, which has been an ambition of mine since sophomore year of high school. A few months ago I applied and got accepted into Leeds to get my Masters in Supply Chain Management. I’ve now completed 6 credits of my program and I’m back to full volume with my team. I realize that I’m one of the lucky ones who is able to come back and compete for my school once more. So much has happened this year that has been out of our control, but it’s true that we can only control what we can control. Han pasado 6 años de esta foto. ✔️Mi primera Maratón en Montaña. ✔️Ese día la pase mal 🤷‍♂️😂🙈, a los 4 kms me di cuenta que mi entrenamiento no había sido el correcto para esa carrera. Creo, que para una maratón de calle, estaba para hacer PB, muy rápido y con buen ritmo.Pero,estaba muy débil para subir esas cumbres y muy torpe,sin técnica y con poca práctica para los descensos técnicos. ✔️Ese día sufrí mucho🙈😂, pero la carrera me encantó💪😜. Y a partir de ese día , me enamoraría de esta disciplina. ✔️Me di cuenta, que a la montaña no hay que entrenarla con la planificación del atletismo clásico, que es una disciplina muy diferente y que el estar rápido en llano ,ayuda, pero no es lo más importante. ✔️Estos años,por ejemplo, he trabajado mucho mi punto más débil, que son los descensos técnicos. También las subidas caminando rápido, que parece fácil, pero hacerlo bien lleva mucho tiempo y práctica. ✔️Cuanto más equilibrado estemos mejor, pero la subida y,sobre todo, la bajada serán fundamental a la hora de alcanzar el máximo rendimiento personal. ✔️En mi caso, prefiero estar más lento, pero llegar a la competencia con fuerza para subir y técnica y confianza para bajar, que son las que hacen la diferencia. ✔️Otra cosa que aprendi desde aquel k42 , es que querer sumar tantos kilómetros como si fuéramos a correr la maratón en calle no tiene sentido alguno (solo acumularemos cansancio).En la montaña no se habla de kilómetros, sino de tiempo y desnivel. ✔️Dia a dia aprendiendo de la disciplina y disfrutándola más 😜💪⛰⛰. #queseatrail #aprendiendodiaadia #disfrutar #trailrunning #salomon 📸 @photodiegowini - @diegosimon.trailrun on Instagram

T is for Triumph. Could ever a car have been more divisive than the TR7? Harris Mann’s wedge was -on paper- just what the 70s Triumph sports car should be. Ditching Michelotti’s refined elegance, for a chunky big bumpered wedge. It was perfectly in keeping with the times, but lacked a certain elegance in coupe form, that the convertible returned to the design. Had they only produced a TR7 Sprint (and built it better in one factory) I think the car might have been a bigger success. Of course such discussions only make those that love it, love it more. Seven years ago, during our early marriage, Seth had a dream. In this dream, a man full of health and endurance ran across trails and streets barefoot. The terrain was rocky, muddy, and full of trees. 🌳 Sitting at the table every night was a plate full of carbs, protein, and dairy. It was topped with seasonal vegetables to give it nutrients and color. The dream was so real that he signed up for a full marathon during Mardi Gras in 2013. (Swipe to see photo) It was the first time he ran long-distance and he thought he felt light and ready. He finished the race but honestly felt like his insides exploded and were laying on the ground outside of his body. 🤢 Seven years later, he immediately signed up for a 30-mile race when a friend asked him to join. He looked up the date and time of the race and decided he was going to be there. The commitment was all that he needed to start the race. His food lifestyle has been clean 🧼 and consistent for many years catapulting his performance for this run. Seth has always been a runner. His diet of clean eating contributed to his first place at the finish line. 🏆 Shaving foods that cause inflammation, fatigue and weight-gain allowed him to feel his best and because he has been doing it for 7+ years, his body is performing at its best. ❤️ ❤️ Congratulations to my husband, @sethjsmiley , that does not dare enter the kitchen to make food but trusts what I put on his plate to supply his body with the right nutrition. The Blue Phoenix made its return to Summit Point after a 20 year absence! After a dead transponder in qualifying led to a start from the back in Sprint 1, after only 3 corners the clutch started slipping and the race was over. Dave Coleman to the rescue as we put the car on the lift Saturday night and we replaced the clutch disc. Problem solved, it was time to grid for Sprint race #3. After starting 34th, i managed to finish 21st and the Blue Phoenix made it to the end of the race. 🥇🥇🥇 Wohoooo - Wir haben gewonnen! Mein erster Gesamtsieg bei der perfekt organisierten Rallye Bad Schmiedeberg! Das war ein toller Re-Start nach einer langen Rallyepause. Das erste Mal mit dem ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo auf Schotter war richtig genial, wir konnten unsere Erfahrung aus der WM ausspielen und mit einem Vorsprung von über 1:24 min auf den nächsten R5-Boliden gewinnen. Vielen Dank an mein neues @eurosolracing und meinen neuen Beifahrer @jan_enderle. Ihr habt beide einen tollen Job gemacht. Ein riesen Lob geht an die Organisation vom MSC Bad Schmiedeberg e.V. im ADMV und die Behörden, die in dieser Zeit den Mut bewiesen und gezeigt haben, dass man eine Rallye auch mit Zuschauern durchführen kann. Das war ein starkes Zeichen! Today I gave my views on remote working to a financial TV 📺. Here is a summary. As endless commentators rushing to predict how the world 🌎 will be remade in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, greater use of home-working has been heralded as the way of the future. Twitter has told employers they could work from home permanently and US insurer Nationwide is also moving to make 98% of its workforce home-bound. But where are the pundits defending our right to a separation from work and home , which can only truly come from an office base ? There must be many of us out there for whom the zealous visions of Twitter or Nationwide hold zero appeal. Let’s hear it for those moments that we can not recreate working from home- the office chitchat that keeps you in the information loop without endless messaging; candid face to face meetings that help you to build new relationships; or just simple pleasure of seeing more faces and a world beyond your four walls. I am sure that removing commuting and work travel has been a great boon for some people, and interesting experiment for many more. But there are whole groups of people working from home is narrowing rather expanding the scope of professional lives. For that reason , the most disadvantaged are likely to be the youngest generation in a workplace- those who benefit the most from informal workplace learning via office chat and quick check-ins that are more awkward to arrange over Zoom or Teams. If more remote working becomes the norm over and extended period , this could also hinder the younger generation from building not just internal company but also broader market relationships that benefit you throughout your career. - @oscarandsimba on Instagram

I’m quite happy with how I qualified. If you look at where we are, P42 on the grid (after adding up the times of the three drivers), were a little bit disappointed. In the end though, we are only 2 tenths down on 4th in category and we could have easily been closer. 😶 Not easy to have a decent lap with so much traffic about. The cold weather didnt help getting the tyres up to temperature either so we lost a few tenths here and there.
