i am at a loss for words. today, march 16th, 2020, we lost softball. i will be back. i understand the decisions that were made here. but dang, what a team. what a year. (albeit a short one.) this year, we were only able to play 14 games. we battled through rain. heck, march 11th was the first time we were able to play on our own field. we didn’t even get to play the season opener on our own field. that one stung, but i didn’t take it for granted because i was able to play softball. today, for the first time, i felt helpless. i feel for the seniors, as they don’t even get to complete their last season of softball. it’s been a rough 5 days, but we’re gonna be alright; we’re gonna make it. it’s just gonna take time to find normal again. for the remainder of the semester, i will probably find myself down at the field, working, trying to get my mind off of things. probably going to be much needed at times. i’ve never done this before. i’ve never had this happen to me. this honestly still feels like a bad dream. despite everything, i am proud of this team. we were clicking. we were coming together. we were gonna go far. this year felt different for sure. i don’t know why, but it just... did. i’m sad it had to end this way, but i feel as if there’s a reason for everything. whether we like it or not, there is a reason. as always, go sports teams, go barons, and remember DHO — your fav left fielder, mj - @parris_morgan0101 on Instagram

We scored a TD on our first 5 possessions of the second half but our sixth was with Maguire with just a few mins left so basically we scored a TD on every possession! The 2020 Rosé Cup women’s polo tournament in Barrington Hills, IL, was a huge success! 🤩🙌🏼 There was both a B Flight and and A flight with 27 women players from all over the United States ✈️ There were two days of very good, competitive women’s polo, played in a round robin format. The Due West Team took home the win for the B flight, while Team Milwaukee/St. Louis came out on top in the A flight. Up and coming young player Winnie Branscum was named MVP, while “Pitufa,” a mare owned by James Sanfilipo and played by Pamela Flanagan, was named Best Playing Pony. FINAL FAREWELL Fair Lawn High School (July 21, 2020) – The Class of 2020 was together one last time. Approximately two hundred and ten graduates from the Class of 2020 participated in a socially distanced Walking Ceremony at Sasso Field. Alumni/graduates took the lead organizing the ceremony, along with FLHS administration. Under a blazing sun, graduates listened to speeches from their fellow graduates – Class President Dennis Vink, Valedictorian Drusilla Zheng, Class Secretary Jacqueline Giz, Class Treasurer Maya Okrasinski, and Class Vice President Eitan Schkolnick – and Principal Paul Gorski. “The Class of 2020 has demonstrated persistence in the face of adversity this year,” said Principal Gorski, referring to their shortened senior year due to quarantine restrictions and rallying together to organize their last event together. The goal was to walk across the stage in their cap and gown – and with red masks with the Fair Lawn logo - for a final farewell. Fellow alumni read each graduate’s name as they walked across the stage; elbow and foot bumps replaced customary handshakes. Several Fair Lawn Board of Education Trustees attended – Mr. Santana, Mr. Barbarulo, and Ms. Quackenbush – and Superintendent Norcia. The event was for graduates only, but parents, friends, and members of the Fair Lawn Community watched live as the Fair Lawn Tech Department livestreamed the event on the FLHS YouTube channel. In June, the Class of 2020 – a total of 372 graduates – received their diplomas in a Car Caravan due to COVID-19 restrictions. Not all of the graduates were able to attend today due to prior commitments. Congrats on a job well done! The Clippers played their closest game of the year winning 31-24; with multiple lead changes, there was no shortage of entertainment for the fans of both teams at IGF. Dason Jesmer-McFarlane looked even more comfortable as the starting back carving up the Clansmen run defence putting up 128 yards on just 18 carries. Robin Brooks was another player on offence who had himself a day, adding seven catches for 95 yards and 2TDs to his successful junior season. Ethan Nagler nailed a season-long 35-yard field goal and continued his streak of 27 straight PATs. On the defensive side of the ball, LB Judah Churko may have been coming off the bench cold, but he lit a fire under the Kelvin team when he picked off Murdochs QB swinging the momentum in the Clippers favour. Dylan Hess had a season-high 12 tackles along with a knockdown, FR, and a beautiful strip-sack as time expired to seal the victory.
