•11 months ago• I saw myself reach a weight I wasn’t proud of at all. This former 3 sport athlete was ashamed and embarrassed. So I set a goal and after our move I was committed to make a change in my life and mindset. I still have a long way to go but I’m proud to show my progress! I was lucky enough to find @mitch_aguiar @masf_industries and it has literally changed me mentally and physically! Who knew that the phrase “Mindset is Everything” would do so much! What does it take to achieve GOALS? ⛔ Working out so hard that you can mop the floor with your own sweat.⛔ Counting how many calories you can incinerate in an hour.⛔ Making sure your heart rate sits in the right zone.⛔ Following a custom meal plan from a trainer.⛔ Two-a-day workouts.⛔ 45 minutes of high intensity interval training.⛔ No carbs. Cardio. Keto. Intermittent fasting. ⬆⬆ None of those things will land you at your goal. 1. The main reason is 90% of them have nothing to do with science or anything factual. They are trends that the industry forces upon us with AMAZING marketing tactics. The industry ( trainers & facilities & social media ) uses those amazing marketing schemes because the ONE thing they know that is missing from that list is the one thing youre missing: AN EDUCATION ON FITNESS & NUTRITION. 2. Those items will NEVER land you at your goals...they are NOT sustainable. How long do you foresee yourself being able to do these things with any real consistency? Eat without carbs?  Do sweat mopping workouts five days a week? Eat keto?  Intermittent fast?  Crush explosive workouts with HIGH IMPACT?  A month?  A few weeks?  6 months? Do you think thats long enough to achieve your goals? Before & After Just finished a twelve week challenge with some of the blokes from work & what a great adventure it was, cheers for the competition lads it wouldnt have been the same without ya. 🙏 A little about my change, I went from 88.2 kgs to 85.9 kgs. I put on 2.3 kgs of Skeletal Muscle Mass, My body fat droped 27.5 % to 19.2%, My Visceral Fat fell from 102 CMs to 75.8. I now feel great, Im enjoying running again & pushing myself, so much so that Ive decided to aim for 12% body fat as my next 12 week challenge & hopefully a future marathon when this virus blows over. I feel like every year on my birthday I post that IT WAS THE BEST YEAR EVER!!!! ....Idk—I feel like that’s not really how I feel about this year if I’m being honest. Lol. Every year up until this year I’ve legit felt that way. (Probably because I kept birthing humans) This year is unique to say the least. But I’ve learned a lot about myself—-I’ve learned a lot about others and I continue to keep learning and keep pushing myself to be the best version of me. I’m so proud of what I’ve built here—not just business wise—-but relationships, family, and personal growth. As women—-we are often are own worst critic and truly the hardest on ourselves and in this fine quarantine life I keep reiterating to myself that I. AM. DOING. MY. BEST. @summerofclaw less than 4 months in. A few things of note here: ▫️ 1. Shes been just about perfect on her plan, and without pulling it up I *think* weve actually been 100% on it with no exceptions the whole time. If you want it, get it. ▫️ 2. This is really awesome because she wasnt exactly out of shape before we started. Making big changes when you start off fairly deconditioned is one thing, but when youve got a good base level of fitness change can be slower. This speaks to her ability to ramp up her intensity when I ask, and trust in the process and let go of old habits. 💪🏼 ▫️ 3. The scale is simultaneously useful and useless. What is one thing you don’t see in these transformation pictures? 🤔 . 👉🏼The uncomfortable moments to achieve the “look” on the right. I have went through multiple dieting phases, and multiple bulking phases. I have taken time off, weeks, months from having visible abs, my thighs rubbing together, my sports bra’s feeling too tight, and leggings that wouldn’t fit me😢I had days where I felt great, and days that I felt like a plump🐷There were days that I weighed in normal and some days I would have a 5 lb increase…. . But those times are necessary to possibly get the physique that you are searching for. I had someone ask me if I would share about how I would overcome the times that I would be bulking, eating in a surplus, clothes not fitting, feeling unmotivated. . My answer: I didn’t overcome but I allowed myself to feel uncomfortable and kept telling myself it will be worth it👌🏼The best thing that helped me was being motivated more than EVER in the gym and putting all those calories to good use💪🏼I bought new clothes that made me feel comfortable. I enjoyed myself, had plenty of untracked meals because that is the time to let loose. One big thing that could help you is to stop weighing yourself everyday! 👏🏼(some days were not good for me either) This can be very hard for people, but if you want to grow muscle, the scale will go up. . So my reminder is when you see these transformation pictures of anyone on social media, don’t think that it was easy for them. Same dress, 1 year and 10 pounds difference! The picture on the left was about 7 months into tracking macros and I was down about 20 pounds. I put on that dress for a wedding and felt great! I was so happy with how far I had already come! 10 pounds later, holidays, quarantine, many set backs, and I feel amazing! Slow and steady. The aesthetic is a 5 year old bday party and I’m here for it. I think the extreme cheese says it all 😁 such a fun weekend celebrating 3-2! When I was pregnant I was feeding my body with a lot of bad food, hormones took control over my body and I couldn’t handle it. I felt depressed (the most when I took a bath and water was overflowing) I felt bad because I knew how to live a healthy lifestyle, but I wasn’t able to implement. . In my head I always knew: when little baby is born I wanna go back to the shape I started. This week I definitely made it to the weight I had before pregnancy! First time unter 65 kg YAS! . In the end it‘s more important what I achieved in my mind: it makes me proud to be back and doing #bbgzeroequipment WEEK 5 after 5 months postpartum. What is the key to success? Eating 80% healthy (yes I do eat chocolate) and doing constantly my BBG workouts! It doesn’t mean that they are easy because they don’t have equipment, @kayla_itsines did an amazing job that SWEAT is guaranteed with every workout! My #75hard Journey 💥 . 📷I did a progress picture 💦I drunk a gallon of water 🍅I ate gluten and dairy free. Cut out my kryptonite (chips and salsa and wintogreen mints 😂) 🏋🏽‍♀️I did two 45 min workouts a day from home. On about 80% of those days it was 2 walks as my workouts 📚I read 10 pages a day out of personal development books: “JOMO: They Joy of Missing Out” “Untamed” and “Daring Greatly” ❌I didn’t have “cheat” meals or alcohol . I’ve been doing those 👆🏼 things daily for the last 75 days. . I started because I knew NEEDED something. Something has been missing. I didn’t feel like I had an armor of mental toughness. I wanted to make something about MYSELF as a priority again. . I got it. I completed 75 hard while running a business full time and #homeschooling my boys 👦🏼👦🏼🧒🏼👶🏼 . I’d say the first week was HARD but I had a huge “romantic” feeling about the whole idea of 75 hard. The HARDEST part was the middle. When the excitement faded. It felt like I was just ticking off items on my list. Moving thru the motions. . But. Sometimes. That’s what it is about. Not wanting to do something and STILL doing it. When the newness fades. And it becomes daily life. . When I finished 75 hard it wasn’t all 🥳”CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES, COMEON!” It was more like.... well. This all just kinda became my daily thing so 🤷🏽‍♀️. Feels like just another day. . The beauty is making something new become habit. . I’ll stick with MANY of my new habits from 75 hard and try to tack on a few new ones as well now that what was once NEW AND DIFFICULT has become more “the norm.” . When I signed up for my first Workout Challenge with Don Saladino 4 months ago, I can honestly say I didn’t expect that my life would change so much. Today, my fellow Challengers and I completed Don’s Superhero Training challenge! My third challenge and by far my most fulfilling. Back in late April, all I wanted was to physically look good. What I didn’t understand was that so much of your physical well-being is driven by your mental well-being. I know that was deep, but it wasn’t until this challenge where it became clear. Only “I” can control “ME”, and that it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about how I look or feel. I know it sounds simple, but we are often so worried about getting everyone’s approval, that we forget that the only approval we need is our own. Thank you @donsaladino for helping me to understand this connection and for giving me the tools (nutrition guidance and workouts) and community to live a healthier life. I also want to give a shout-out to my fellow Challengers and @mel.ic.ious. Thanks for all your support, encouragement and inspiration. Not going to blame it all on being quarantined, maybe a little blame on Wendy’s baconator.... and beer. I reached my highest weight of 257 this year and definitely could feel it after a while. Once my clothes started not fitting I knew something had to change. I tried working out on my own and all the different diets I could think of and never could change my momentum of gaining weight. I finally reached out to my Coach @jakesorosiak and he jumped right away making a diet and training plan for me. I want to thank him for pushing me these last 10 weeks. He gives me tough love definitely, especially when he watches my instagram story of me drinking an entire pitcher of margaritas. Becoming a dad, coaching, and moving my gym was a lot over the last few years. Combine that with getting older and not really paying any attention to my nutrition took me to a place Ive never been. Im on the path to making some changes, and after 30 days Im slowly starting to see some changes. Might have to make some adjustments, but not a bad first 30 days. I could easily have avoided posting this until I had more noticeable results, but the truth about weight-loss is its not always easy, consistent or fast. Sometimes it takes time and only through consistent efforts do you really see the changes. So all you out there trying to make a change, dont expect rapid results, dont expect to be perfect in 30 days, 60 days, or whatever you think it should be. Instead make it about how you feel, about making a lifestyle change, about becoming something over time. The other thing this post is for is to show the value of progress pictures, my weight hasnt really changed yet, but Im carrying weight different and Im definitely gaining muscle mass. I wouldnt have seen this without the pictures. No matter where you are on your journey, keep going. You never know just how close you are to making a breakthrough. - Ive finally hit my first goal!!! First time under 300 pounds in a few years! And to think, 7 weeks ago I was about 325 pounds.

What does it mean to be a WARRIOR? From 2012-2014 I looked like the photo on the left. It was only 2 years, but I thought I would never overcome it. It’s hard to share because it means admitting imperfection, but maybe someone needs to see this today. After college, I ate healthy and exercised, stayed in shape through law school & even taught spin and barre while attending law school in Iran. While writing my dissertation, I stopped exercising, sat on the couch and ate Cheetos. In addition to the newly sedentary lifestyle, I was in an unhappy relationship that stifled me. I lived with that partner and helped actualize his dreams while I literally disappeared inside this body pictured on the left. I felt trapped, like a caged bird. It was so confusing because on the outside, everything seemed great! I was a law professor! My mom was finally proud! I was on my way to a house and kids...but the depression was overwhelming. Doctors prescribed antidepressants, but I knew that wasn’t how I wanted to change things. I wanted to change things by changing my LIFE! I started small. I changed my diet & lost 10lbs in 10 days! Then I started walking on the treadmill at a HIIT class. Everyone was racing next to me and all I could do was walk. As a former spin instructor, I felt pretty embarrassed to be walking on the treadmill. Bless @derekringold for having so much compassion and love for me. The problem with exercising with more weight on your body is that it’s harder on your body. You get tired faster and more sore. The obstacles in the beginning feel so overwhelming. My shins and calves hurt so much that I would go home and ice them with frozen vegetables, but still showed up the next day. I took pictures and journaled my progress. Once I started seeing a real shift, I gained confidence to make changes in other areas of my life. I started planning to return to Iran to travel the country and that led to this page, my TED talk and discovering my spiritual path. These days, as I face new hard things, I wanted to remind myself of my strength. I am strong. I am courageous. I am a LION. I am a WARRIOR. - @gildasgold on Instagram

𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟳 ➡️ 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬. 3 years. 3 freaking years. In some ways it was not that long ago, but it sure feels like a lifetime. I don’t recognize the girl on the left. When you look closely, you can see a big ‘ol post-surgery knee brace on my left leg. I don’t think I’ve really talked about the two worlds of mine - PT school & my fitness journey with Beachbody — and how they have become 𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑬𝑹𝑻𝑾𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑫 as two huge parts of my life. 3 years ago the left photo was taken during a family vaca on Cape Cod. I was starting PT school that August. In this photo, I was probably 6-7 wks post surgery. I was 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘟𝘏𝘈𝘜𝘚𝘛𝘌𝘋 from walking around w/ the heavy brace on & sweating soo much. I had gotten to the point where I felt “fat” (mostly in my stomach) and didn’t feel bathing suit confident. I was going to PT & doing my HEP, but it wasn’t enough. 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙, 𝙤𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚. I started PT school & the downward slope of overall mental & physical wellness continued on a downward trend. Between the chronic stress that became overwhelming anxiety & fear of test taking and the chronic knee pain that left me feeling plateaued in my post surgery rehab, 𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚕𝚘𝚜𝚝. I felt like I must’ve been 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 in the way I was feeling. I’m a stubborn person so of course I didn’t know to or want to talk about it. 𝑴𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒖𝒑 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒚 2018 after I was 𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 from my program. I had to take a LOOOTTT of steps back & analyze everything that had happened in just under a year’s time. I began therapy & got a PF membership. I had to start somewhere and was able to feel like I could with the knowledge from my year of PT school. I’m editing this to mention i was NOT pregnant in my before pic 😂 It was taken early June 2020. Not brow related but just wanted to share my progress!!!! I had a goal to lose 20lbs. I reached my goal about 2 weeks ago but was too scared to post anything. I felt like i still didn’t look ‘good’ enough even after i reached my goal. Finally took my after pics today and seeing it tangibly in front of my face inspires me to do more! This took about 2.5 months and was a result of less alcohol, less sugar, less carbs (less of all, not none) and more moderation in general. I also worked out about 5 days a week. This is a ‘diet’ and lifestyle I can literally maintain forever. I feel so much better! My next goal is just to tone. I’ve been going back and forth all day if I should share or not. With each passing year maintaining this lifestyle seems to not be as hard as it once was. That is until this past year... 2019-2020 has honestly thrown me( like many others) for a wild ride. I certainly didn’t expect to quit my job last year to start a new venture, open my shop, less than 2 weeks later become a single mom, flash forward 5 months later to the Covid Pandemic, unable to work , and subsequently come super close to losing my business among many other changes. This was the closest I have been to drinking again, I basically battled myself every day and I was terrified. It felt like the beginning all over again and some days I truly didn’t even see the point of staying sober. Yet here we are, another September 1st. I didn’t think I’d make it here, let alone being able to say I’m 9 YEARS sober. Thank you to everyone who reached out, thank you to those who I reached out to in the Sober and clean community who truly helped me stay focused and on track. So I clearly didn’t go from A to B in a “4 week cut” or even in a few months. This is years of transformation and the work is never done. So you have to start somewhere....anywhere. For me it’s always been easy to workout. Diet on the other hand, I never wanted to commit to. I didn’t want to believe I needed to change my food to get results. Put down the wine, and pick up some water!! Macro counting was the very last thing I tried to take my body to the next level and it was definitely the most effective. Start slow & take baby steps. If you go into this full throttle right from the beginning you may end up falling off plan and then quitting. Most people want results as quick as possible. So they do crazy extreme things and then fall of the wagon when they realize it’s too aggressive to sustain long term. If you take things slow and steady you are much more likely to stick the plan long term and maintain results. Do things one step at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed. Once that becomes easy and comfortable maybe add a little more. This isn’t a race. There is no end date. You don’t get a goal body and then are just finished. There is always work to be done in gym and at home. So settle in and let’s make this as comfortable and livable for the long haul. I promise you it’s SO worth it!! I was hesitant to post this, but here goes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is such a stigma around “bouncing back” to your pre pregnancy body and how you shouldn’t focus on that because instead we should all love our bodies exactly the way they are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s the thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I loved being pregnant and I’ve honestly never loved my body or felt more confident than I did during those 41 weeks - even with the 60 pound weight gain 😳. I was in awe of what my body was capable of and cherished every second of the journey and my growing bump. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then, when I was in labor and after I delivered I’ve never been more proud of myself. Again, crazy what our bodies can do. I contribute the fact that I was able to go through 22 hours of natural labor to working out up until the day I went into labor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But the postpartum body phase is honestly not my favorite. That doesn’t mean I discount the amazing things my body did to lead up to this and it doesn’t mean I don’t love myself. It just means I don’t feel as comfortable with these extra 35 pounds kicking around. And that’s okay. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today I was cleared to workout by my doctor and I got my first workout in as soon as possible once I walked in the door. I don’t care about getting down to a particular size or weight, but what I do care about is that I get back in shape so I can once again feel strong, healthy and confident in my clothes. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Working out helps me to stay on track with my eating, gives me more energy, helps me clear my mind, makes me more productive and I know it’s only going to help me become an even better mama for my sweet Sophia. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My point is, it’s okay if you want to get back in shape ASAP after you have a baby just as much as it’s okay to fully embrace the new body you have and wait as long as you want to exercise. I promise. Day one is the worst. But the countless other check in are so much more rewarding. I don’t even have words. Work your ass off. Watch the foods. It doesn’t happen over night!! It won’t happen in 6 months. It’s a forever thing!! This 8 week challenge was going to be a struggle, not because I didn’t want to. I just had a different battle. We all know #whatyoueatmatters 🌱 But I am very curious to know about your #nutritionstrategy if you are doing any sort of exercise/workout or #cycling and specially #running 🏃🏻🚴🏻 🏊🏻‍♂️ What would you eat before, during and after you runs 🤔 Do you eat anything at all? As most of you know, I am on a high carbohydrate and low fat #plantbasedlifestyle so what I eat before my run and cycling sessions is what I normally eat during the day however, I try to avoid run or ride my bike on a full stomach to avoid #puking later 😅 For most of my short runs and bike rides mainly less or at one hour sessions, I usually don’t eat anything if it is low to moderate intensity but if it is a medium to high intensity session then at least a banana 30 minutes to 1 hour before the sessions. My main #nutritionchallenge is for #longruns basically for any run session over 1 hour to 3 hours. If I am running outdoor for more than an hour, I need to consider what I am going to take with me to drink and eat. To meet my hydration needs, at least I take a 600ml water or coconut water bottle 🥥plus a banana 🍌 For longer distances, I may take some dates on top as well. I would love to hear from you guys about what you eat and drink during your exercise. PROGRESS UPDATE! . . . Went from 11.9% BF a month ago to 10.3%. Lost 4lbs of fat (and 1.5lbs of muscle but that’s not too bad! 😀) . . . Photos show a comparison from 1 Year Ago. 14lbs difference in weight at the SAME body fat %. Roughly 9lbs are muscle, the rest is water and glycogen/food. . . . This past year I was finally able to adjust programming and diet from what I’ve learned the last few years since making my fitness training aesthetic focused. I want to give a big shout out to @rpstrength for all their knowledge (especially from @vitaminphd and @rpdrmike articles and videos). They know what they’re doing and strongly recommend anyone having trouble with dieting or programming to reach out to them. @rp_transformations . . . Another big shoutout to the @300dcspartans and all the Spartans for making it enjoyable and making the goal of earning ones shield an added incentive to improving year after year. - One year of intermittent fasting and one hundred pounds later... starting weight 248 currently 148. I wasn’t doing fasting right for two months and almost quit. I am so glad I figured it out. What are your biggest struggles with it?

Monday Motivation! These two pics were taken 16 years apart. There is nothing wrong with me in the picture from 2004.  However, I didn’t feel great. I was going about my fitness and nutrition the wrong way. I wasn’t eating enough, I thought I was eating healthy and I was doing way too much cardio.  I would get up a 4:00 am to get a run in before I went to the office. I couldn’t understand why I just couldn’t seem to lose even 5 lbs. and I always seemed to lack energy. Even though I was a certified trainer, I continued with the same habits for a few years and then ended up having fertility issues. I decided to change the way I was doing things. I cut down on the cardio and started lifting more. I started really studying the foods I was eating and I started eating more. I also prioritized sleep. My energy increased. I was building muscle. I was sleeping better. I ended up being in the best shape off my adult life and I ended up having my son when I was 38. Everything I was doing before was not only putting a lot of stress on my body, it was messing up my hormonal balance. Hormonal imbalances including elevated cortisol can not only make weight loss difficult, it can lead to a whole host of other issues. Low energy Brain fog Increased belly fat Mood swings Bloating Poor Sleep After I had my son, I bounced right back.  Since that time I have made it my mission to help other women. I focussed on my education and research and I developed my program to help women get the results they are looking for. Edit: It’s NOT my Birthday, it’s a decade reflection 2009: This was my first day on set as an intern on The Kardashians (Kourtney & Khloe take Miami). I was 18 years old, not even a year out of high school and trying to figure out how I got so lucky. I had no idea that internship would be the beginning of a 10+ year career or the reason I’d drop out of college lol. Truthfully, I‘d gotten good at smiling on the outside while the inside was an unhappy, unsure, undeniable wreck... but I fought HARD and worked HARDER without sacrificing my integrity, losing my mind, or kissing anybody’s ass. . . 2019: “Can’t believe we made it” - Beyoncé. At 29 I launched my own Production company, Crystal Clear Content, and got fired from a show for the first time. Talk about highs and lows! This photo was taken the day after wrapping one of the most intense/important series I’ve worked on; it required me to use every single thing I’ve learned over the last 10 years to get through it. And boyyyy did I go through it... I was expecting to produce others through a therapeutic experience, but instead I realized how much I needed therapy myself. *Why you don’t want to spend all year dieting* This photo on the left popped up as a memory today and there are so many things I want to say about it! For starters - my weight. Note that these are both my weekly averages at that time, not just my lowest number. I weigh slightly more than I did this time last year, yet this year, I am LEANER. I talk about this frequently (and y’all are about to hear my talk about it more in the coming months 😂) but you can’t spend the whole year dieting and chasing fat loss. You MUST give your body a break and spend adequate time in a maintenance phase to optimize your metabolism and hormones again‼️ I spent Oct to mid-Nov of 2019 reverse dieting then mid-Nov through May 2020 in a maintenance phase. For me personally, this was around 2100-2200 calories. That is 6 MONTHS at maintenance calories, giving my body time to BUILD muscle, adapt to the higher calories, and prime my body the best I could for this most recent dieting phase. Even with working night shift and crazy hours as a nurse, I made strength training a priority and really challenged myself with the weights I used so I could GROW💪🏽 and my current physique SHOWS that (hello shoulders and quads). You need muscle to look more “toned” and you can’t continue dieting with low calories and expect to gain sufficient muscle mass. You just can’t. 🤷🏽‍♀️ This also a great example of why “goal weights” are arbitrary. If you add more muscle to your frame, you’re going to look leaner, at a heavier weight. So stop getting stuck on that number you have in your mind of what you’re weight “should” be! And again, make sure you are prioritizing maintenance phases into your year 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Not only will you get to enjoy more food, feel fueled, strong, and a world of difference better!! But you will also be setting your body and metabolism up in the best possible place for you to most efficiently loose fat again when you do start your next dieting phase. - @laurenfitfoodie on Instagram

#LongPost After being chubby all my life, I was finally able to lose some weight, and feel confident that it wouldn’t bounce back. Hope this post inspires you to eat right and stay active. It took a lot for me to post this but I believe we deserve to be healthy and learn what’s best for our body 🤯 .... [Quick summary] hired health coach @darrennnliu and in 4 weeks time, lost 5.5kg & waist down 3” . [Full story] July 5, I was utterly frustrated with my weight/body after my best effort to “Eat well and Exercise hard” during the quarantine period from April to June😤 . I figured I wasn’t doing it right so I decided to get real help from health coach @darrennnliu and prior to reaching out, I had been following his IG and his stuff made sense to me. . Fast forward to Aug 5, I am thrilled to say that my decision was 100% worth it (as seen in pictures). I have new relationships with food and exercise and in my eyes, it is also sustainable, not a so-called “diet” to lose weight fast and just to return to where we were before. I know we have all been there 😔 . Most importantly, I never had to starve in this program and always got to eat until I’m full. I don’t have to cut carbs, WHAT⁉️ . Biggest Takeaway: 1️⃣ Avoid vegetable oils & refined carbs/sugar 2️⃣ Consume quality protein, carbs & fats 3️⃣ Walk daily 4️⃣ 8 hours of quality sleep 🔽 and much more... . I have made so many more “extreme” transformations to be on a stage and focused more on health and fitness, but I do have to say this is the longest I have gone with healthy decisions, no rebounds and continued progress forward. I don’t look like the “ideal bikini competiter” anymore. I have let struggles and anxiety overcome me in this season of unknowns and had my fair share of shutdowns and worries. But I do know is I’m still moving forward, have my faith in God and continue to be the best I can be. I have the fear of letting people down especially my coach’s and go off the grind to find myself struggling to reach back out. A few years ago, I was kicked out of receiving outpatient care for anorexia. At the time, I have to say I was devastated and I felt like a lost cause.😳 … 👉And it wasn’t the first time I felt this way in my life. For those who don’t know my backstory, here’s the jist of it without all the “fun” details. … 👉Dad had an affair before senior year of high school and that was followed by inpatient for anorexia followed by college. My dad filed divorce papers intentionally the day before I went to college. 😳As you can imagine, I struggled a bit with the anorexia as I was unsure whether I’d even be going home due to financial circumstances. When I went home, I thought things would be better, and they weren’t… First day back and I met my mom’s new boyfriend whom she met on a dating platform. Long story short, but he ended up being NOT only an alcoholic, but unemployed as well. It took years of trudging on through mental and emotional abuse, and ultimately led to a restraining order and him being cuffed out of the house. (“Fun times”) After that, I graduated valedictorian and pre-med (despite it all). I was still struggling, so I went to get help only to get kicked out of outpatient help with anorexia (due to protocol)… left to fend on my own. … 👉👉My story is a long one with 434239843290 reasons why I should be dead by now. But there’s 1 major reason that I’m alive today, and it’s MYSELF. … 👉👉👉In the last three years, I’ve gotten my health on track. In the last three years, I’ve learned how to smile again. In the last three years, I’ve been able to work with an assortment of brands, start a blog, and do all the shenanigans you see. … 👇Why am I sharing this? Over the past two months I have participated in the #suitupwithdon challenges with Coach @donsaladino . These challenges have brought me to a new level of confidence and power. So I have been scared to death to post this picture !! Afraid of what people may say or think! Truth is I went through so much the past couple of years that I was just falling out of love with fitness. 10 WEEK UPDATE! ⁣🙀⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m not going to lie...I am SHOCKED at the difference in these photos in just 10 weeks. I really thought I was in shape 10 weeks ago but I think all I’d been doing was maintaining the way my body had looked for years and never actually changing it. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There are a lot more than just physical differences in these progress photos. The girl on the right is more confident, stronger, appreciative, positive, passionate and committed to living a healthier lifestyle in all aspects of her life. ⁣ ⁣ When people tell me “I look good” or “I am in great shape”, I always respond with the same thing: “Thank you, but I work for it.” I was not born with this body. I don’t just naturally have this body because I’m short and petite. I work my ass off every day for it. I push play on my workouts, I hone in on my nutrition and I work on my mindset to not only have my body look like this but to feel so fucking good. ⁣ ⁣ Every single person has access to feeling this good. 𝟯𝟬 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀!⁣ ⁣ We only have 2 more months to go! Can you believe how fast time is flying by?!⁣ ⁣ At this point, the baby will now start to grow about a half lb a week which means a lot of belly expanding for me 😅 The baby’s brain is also getting bigger, hands are fully formed with growing fingernails and the baby can actually grip!⁣ ⁣ I am still sitting around 20lbs up give or take a lb or two and exercising most days of the week. It helps reduce the swelling in my feet and gives me a boost of energy! My diet has been pretty consistent- in fact I am getting full much faster since I am running out of room in there, so (for I am sure the first time in my life) I actually have to remind myself to eat😂⁣ ⁣ Yesterday my sweet friend Crystal gifted me a maternity photoshoot and it was so much fun. I felt so beautiful with my big belly getting all dolled up for the camera. Compared to the numerous fitness shoots in my past, I didn’t have to worry about holding water, being a little softer, having some cellulite on my backside, etc. I just enjoyed the day- completely stress free. I cannot wait to see the final pics. Allan and Bodhi came at the end of the shoot to join in on a few pics- it was really special❤️⁣ ⁣ Our house is finally coming together! We had movers in last week to change the rooms around, bring furniture down and up and out 🤗 ⁣ Walls have been repainted, carpets have been cleaned, handyman will come tomorrow for a few projects and then the nursery should be done in the next couple weeks. Btw, don’t put together your crib in the garage…. it won’t fit through the bedroom door. I learned this the hard way and had to completely disassemble and reassemble it- thankfully it wasn’t difficult and I enjoy doing that kind of stuff.⁣ ⁣ My appointments with the doc are bi-weekly now and I plan on registering at the hospital this week! Only you can change your story. Often people think that just because they hire a nutrition coach or sign up to a gym and get a personal trainer, they will automatically get their dream body. No. A nutrition coach can only guide you and make recommendations. A personal trainer can only write you a program of what to do. At the end of the day, I can’t make you eat more whole foods. Girlfriend, I need you to hear this: your journey is yours and no one else’s. It’s special and it’s unique. Because it’s YOURS. And the focus will be ever changing depending on what you’re chasing and what NEED at that time in your life. I don’t usually let rude messages get to me (not like I get that many) but I needed to address this. I was told that I wasn’t being a good influence because I “continue to chase fat loss and don’t show woman that the importance of maintenance phases and eating higher calories.” To be honest, this upset me, because it is so far from the truth. I PREACH the importance of maintenance phases. All my clients and anyone who knows me knows that. It may seem to some people on here that fat loss has been my goal for the majority of this year, and that is partially true; but that goal was shifted and is not the full story. I mentioned before that I originally wanted to start my fat loss phase this year in March. But I was a bit of a roller coaster at this time and with my history of binging I KNEW it wasn’t a good idea. So I shifted my goal to start when I was ready (staying at maintenance in the meantime) and that wasn’t until mid July when I officially went into a deficit. My point with all this is - if you don’t know the whole story, don’t judge. He weighed 265#. He was eating barely anything. So. He needed to loose weight right? But if eating less was truly accurate of weight loss, then how could he eat less than 900 Cals ? 😳 And not suffer malnutrition? He was already malnourished, his metabolism was at a dead stop. Understanding that he had done nothing until this point to build any sort of body underneath. And he didnt wanna be skinny. We worked for 14 months reversing him from 900 Cals up to 5400 Cals. Since it’s #flashbackfriday let’s take a moment of silence and reflect on how far I’ve come 🙈🤷🏼‍♀️ I am a mother of TWIN BOYS. YES that is my sons head sticking out the side of my belly 😱 YES it took YEARS for me to regulate my hormones, weight fluctuations, and relationship with food. YES I had to start somewhere and BE CONSISTENT and know it was OKAY (and I was WORTH IT) to take time out of the day to work on ME. I tried and failed and tried again until finally it stuck! TRUE STORY: I gained 37lbs during my pregnancy. I worked out and ate healthy my entire pregnancy. I lost it all in 3 months postpartum and was THRILLED. Then ONE month after reaching my goals, (twins were 4 months old), tragedy struck my family and I gain 15lbs in ONLY ONE MONTH after my mother suddenly passed away. IT TOOK ME 4.5 YEARS TO WORK THAT OFF and maintain a healthy and sustainable weight where I felt comfortable and strong again. Why I started working out ✨ So around 3 and a half years ago I really started my fitness journey. Before then, I was always active but never committed to weight loss, muscle gain and the gym. Within the past 3 and a half years I have been through it all... From loosing up to 33kg from when I was my heaviest weight, to becoming underweight and considered too light. The photo on the left is when I had poor nutrition and daily habits. I would drink ice coffee daily, eat cookies by the container and chips by the packet... I believed that having a quick metabolism (although, it clearly wasnt quick anymore) would allow me to overlook my health and nutrition.. Boy, was I wrong! The photo on the right is not current as this is not where I should, or want to be. I am focusing on this and I’ll keep you updated in time. 🧡 I have had goals change from focusing on weight loss, to focusing on muscle gain, to focusing on weight gain. I believe that because of this I am able to understand people along all levels within their health and fitness journey. But in short, the reason why I first walked into the gym wasnt too change my physique or appearance. For me, the gym was where I could go, put headphones in, switch off, and just do me. I loved pushing myself physically and mentally but most importantly, I found enjoyment in what I was doing. I started to truely love learning about nutrition, exercise and absolutely everything that come with it. My love for health and fitness kept getting bigger, the more that I learnt, the more I wanted to learn more. In progress! Crazy what 39 days of this program does for you. Honestly I’ve never been so clear on my goals. If there was a before and after of my brain you would see a bigger change. February 2018 • 3 months post getting off the birth control pill • hormones f*%ked • waking up exhausted, napping in the afternoon, constantly fatigued • anxiety through the roof • insomnia • cardio and some light weights • ovarian cysts and insane menstrual pain (in and out of hospital), losing LOTS of hair • not enjoying life because I felt so sh*tty March 2019 • found out a few months prior I have Endometriosis • 1 year into Holistic Healing • supporting my hormones, adrenals and mental health • weight lifting 2x / week 2020 • hormones balanced, in tune with my body • actively controlling my Endometriosis naturally • minimized and absent ovarian cysts • weight lifting 4 x a week • only cardio is walking the dogs • zero anxiety, sleeping 7-8 hours a night • listening to my body and honouring its needs • if I crave something I eat it, otherwise catch me eating protein, fibre and healthy fats at every meal • gluten-free, dairy on occasion • living a BALANCED life, enjoying 🍷 and good company Internal healing isn’t linear. I had so many issues physically and mentally in 2018 and they were not going to change over night. The photos do not show the mental progress I have made during these 2 years and I truly believe my own personal experience has helped me understand more of what my clients are experiencing. I originally wanted to go to school to be a Veterinarian and left because my anxiety was so bad. 🤰Attention mums! What week did you go into labour with your first child? I’ve always thought because this is my first child, I’ll be overdue and still have some time up my sleeve... but this morning I woke up anxious worrying I hadn’t prepared enough in the case of going into labour early. Technically I could go into labour any time - that sort of freaks me out. Although, realistically I don’t think anything can prepare me for what I’m about to experience. At the moment I am obsessed with birth stories (they make me feel empowered). I love listening to @australianbirthstories and I’m reading a book which is just positive birth story after positive birth story. I am open to going into labour naturally, or an intervention if I need - but I am intrigued to hear your story! So I’ve never done this for 2 reasons: 1) I never wanted to be THAT guy & 2) I never truly reached my personal goal, so I never thought what I had achieved was worth sharing Early in the year I was drinking often, eating terribly, & gained a lot of weight. I also received bad health news & underwent a few procedures that made me think twice about the decisions I was making & life I wanted to live (Doing better now don’t worry). At the beginning of quarantine I started slacking & eating poorly again after making so much progress following my health scare. I was faced with an obstacle: give up, get fat, & go back to what got me in trouble again or take advantage of the quarantine & finally take my health & fitness seriously. I chose the second option. 3 months later & I’ve officially lost 37lbs & 7.1% of my total body fat %. I’m so proud of myself, but this is not my end goal. I want to build more muscle, slim down more, & earn more abs. I know now this is a journey & a slow process, but I am excited to keep venturing through it. I truly hope this is an inspiration & lesson to all of you, because I never thought I would actually take & post an after photo. If you know me, you know how many times I’ve tried & failed, how close I’ve gotten, & the dad bod jokes & excuses I end up making. I have 7 years of before photos in an album & finally got to 1 after! Don’t give up. If you want to change, just do it. You & your excuses are the only thing stopping you. Ask for help if you need it. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without such an incredible support group. My fitness guru & homie Nakoa for teaching me the right things to do, my boss & great friend Gregg for the inspiration & get up, get out, get healthy motto, my mom who put up with me blasting music & being a picky eater, my loser brother for challenging me & keeping me in check, the late Kobe Bryant for Mamba Mentality, the entire Fitness Challenge group, & friends & family who supported me.
