Humble beginnings! From my gear in my apartment’s dinning room in 2006, to my set up BACK at my parents house in 2010–2014, to my set BACK at my apartment in 2015 and then to my current set up here at my own home in my own studio! Had to encourage myself this morning and remind myself of the growth that God has allowed to happen in my life. Not just as a musician and a producer but as A Man!!! None of us move at the same pace nor do we get afforded the same opportunities. We must make the best out of the opportunities that we do get, trust the process and continue down the path that God has set for our own feet to travel down! Others might look better or seem better and might in fact be better but God has each of us all in mind and HE knows what’s best for each of us. I myself have to keep this in mind and remain firm in my stance that His plan for my life is what’s best. I hope this encourages someone! Let’s keep going because this isn’t the end of the story!!!! Long story short this time last year I got to connect with @raekwon about a clock collaboration. Month after linking I flew out to @611purplefactory before the grand opening in Toronto to personally install 9 #PurpleTape clocks set to different time zones. The Purple Factory is a dope shop with all of Raes exclusive gear and an official barbershop with the Wu mirrors. I didnt get to stay for the grand opening but I got to link with the homie @villabeatz for a hot sec before hopping on the bus back so I could install my water exhibition at @artapplenyc. I was so busy around that time I never even posted these clocks until @cynaminjones reminded me that we need appreciate our hard work sometimes. Today also marks twelve years since we lost John Marcum, AKA, Dusty, one of the most talented and fearless SEALs I have known. If you knew Dusty, you know how and when he received his nickname! The last time I saw Dusty we were on the airfield at Bagram doing a transfer ceremony for Josh Harris, another SEAL who had recently been lost there. I was flying back with the guys for a quick turnaround to return to Afghanistan in a few months, and we would be attending Joshs funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. I drove to Arlington, Virginia in preparation for a team of us to attend the service. It was about 10pm and I had just had dinner with Collin Thomas, who would also be killed two years later, when my phone rang with a satellite number I knew to have originated in Afghanistan. I was told Dusty was gone that night, and the news was crushing. He was a remarkable person, and he could make anyone laugh. I quickly grabbed my stuff from the hotel room in Arlington and drove back to Virginia Beach, only to get on a plane bound for Dustys home town in Michigan. I was one of the ones who stood in front of Dustys parents that next morning, in uniform. To say it was heartbreaking is an understatement, as so many of us know who have had to do this. Only a few weeks after Dustys passing, Cindy died too, she couldnt take the tragic loss. They were buried side-by-side in 2008, where they now rest. The sacrifices are real, and the people weve lost were extraordinary. My #hopsinstory ? Jeez where tf do I even begin... I was 14, in my room and the Music Choice Rap channel was on. Mind you this was 7 years ago. Ill Mind Of @hopsin 5 was on and I was instantly hooked. I didnt understand how to pull of multisyllable rhyming yet, or the format to rhyming patterns that sounded sweet to the ear like that at the time, but I appreciated it HEAVILY. I wasnt allowed to have any sort of electronics, or internet access at that age so I just had to hope that song would play again. I kept the channel on all day every day for that song to play again for literally MONTHS but it didnt come back on. Fast forward to age 15, one of my relatives recognized my passion to write and I expressed I needed to be able to have beats to write over to properly follow the format of song creation. They convinced my grandparents (they adopted me at a young age) to let her buy me a Kindle Fire for my birthday. As soon as I got that tablet I hopped on youtube and searched for Hopsin. I was on cloud fucking 9 man. I tried showing my friends but they just didnt have the same ear for the craft that I did. It was one of the many things that made me an outcast. And I didnt care, I stood by the taste my ear had acquired and shoved in everybodys face when the conversation of music had popped up at any time. I had a lot of troubles at that age and much MUCH more further on in my teenage years. A few months after I got that tablet I was sent to a juvenile crisis center for a few months and then a group home for 5 months. We were allowed to have music there and made $5 every 2 weeks if we did 2 chores a day for 2 weeks. The thing was that you had to EARN explicit music after about 3 months of being there. But couldnt start earning that money after the 3 months of being there. So as soon as I hit that 3 months I saved up for a month and a half and bought Knock Madness. It only came in the explicit version so I had to wait that long. Bro..... I was in FUCKING HEAVAN. Locked myself in my room and had my headphones on ALL DAY EVERY DAY listening to that CD. My Dad, Robert Matheu, passed away on September 21, 2018. We are still all at loss of words as this was very unexpected. There are so many great memories that we all shared with him and he will forever be remembered for the many amazing things he accomplished in his life. „Wehikuł czasu, to byłby cud...” takie oto wspominkowe foto dostarczyła mi ostatnio Kamila podczas naszej zespołowej domówki online. 2005 rok, zjazd fanów Metallica w Grodkowie. Piękne czasy. Wtedy jeszcze za krótkie spodenki nie wylatywało się z zespołu ( w LS - natychmiastowa relegacja) a ja myślałem że łańcuch do kluczy ze smyczy dla rotweilera załatwia sprawe imidżu na scenie. Gitary epiphone les paul już nie posiadam ale pamiętam, że kupiłem ją od gościa na allegro, który reklamował ją że należała do Janka Pęczaka (100% Bawełny). A wtedy to było prawdziwe cudo bo leworęcznych gitar było jak na lekarstwo. Kiedyś Janka nawet chyba spotkałem na jakiejś imprezie już wiele lat po tym koncercie i mu wspomniałem o tym ale nie pamietał ani gitary ani pewnie nie pamięta już mnie. Ale wspomnienia cudne. We have received some very sad news from the location for UNMUTE Vrijmuiden. Even though we had all the permits to throw an amazing party and had the permission of the municipality of IJmuiden, the current Covid-19 situation and latest press conference caused the municipality of IJmuiden to force the owner of the location to cancel the party after all. We are very sad to have received this last minute news but were now working our asses off to find a suitable alternative location to not have to cancel the party. If we manage to find an alternative location the party will just be held on the 29th as planned, if we can not find a suitable location the party will be postponed. Tickets will remain valid for the next date and there will be a possibility to refund if you want to. We will update you on the definitive decision in two days.
