My first real jewelry was this pair of dangly earrings in 14k gold with aquamarine (my birthstone). I loved them so much because they made me feel like grown woman. But within the first week of receiving them i lost one. I looked everywhere for it. Every day for about a week I dug through the carpet, under the couch and in every nook of our house crying. My mom even let me look through the contents of our vacuumed cleaner. But it was gone. Finally i got ok with it. i decided i would just wear the one earring and on the other ear i would wear something completely different. I felt unique. And cool (lol) I still wear my earrings like that today. And i still love jewelry just as much. Ps that’s a mirror in my hands. Not an iPad. And i know. Riley was our friend, but he was everybody’s friend. He was very easy to get along with. He was kind and welcoming. He cared deeply for everyone. We got to know Riley through Power Trip, an amazing band. He would let us crash while we were on the road and we would stay up late talking about books and comics, records and Foucault, and later we were lucky enough to do two tours together. On stage, Riley was incomparable. He was commanding but he was also gentle. He would do a high kick and then say something thoughtful or witty. It was grace and gratitude and grit all in one. For some, it might’ve seemed like a real-life episode of “The Sopranos.” In 2004, three separate dark green Kenneth Cole suitcases, containing pieces of a dismembered body, were found in and around the Chesapeake Bay, near Virginia Beach, Virginia. The body was eventually identified as 39 year-old Bill McGuire, an employee of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, who lived more than 300 miles away in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The medical examiner determined that the body had been shot multiple times. His wife, Melanie McGuire, a fertility nurse and the mother of his two sons, was eventually convicted of murdering him and dumping his body. She was sentenced to life in prison. One of my favorite things to point out while giving tours at the Archives was that we always strived to collect and include Everything Lesbian.. without prejudice towards differences in beliefs, and then I would show the boxes with Off Our Backs and On Our Backs living peacefully next to each other in the periodical room. off our backs (often referred to as oob) was an American radical feminist periodical (published from 1970 to 2008), by a collective of women who practiced consensus decision-making. From the first issue in February 1970: ..oob is a paper for all women who are fighting for the liberation of their lives and we hope it will grow and expand to meet the needs of women from all backgrounds and classes. The editors ask readers to use this paper to relate what you are doing and what you are thinking, for we are convinced that a woman speaking from the agony of her own struggle has a voice that can touch the experience of all women. The title of the magazine On Our Backs, the first women-run erotica magazine and the first magazine to feature lesbian erotica for a lesbian audience in the US, was a satirical reference to off our backs, which was sometimes thought of as prudish and not sex positive enough. off our backs regarded the new magazine as pseudo-feminist and threatened legal action over the logo OOB. On Our Backs was published from 1984 till 2006. Both titles had a loyal following and many subscribers read both- some of the LHA coordinators for instance appear in both publications. Due to a different filing system at LHA the titles no longer live in boxes next to each other... ☺ but we still have all the issues. Once we can safely open our building and collections again you can stop by and immerse yourself in these and many other titles. basketball has been a major part of my life for the last 27 years. we’ve had a strange relationship, i didn’t really care for sports growing up. i was more interested in running on all fours through the forest in my backyard or playing legend of zelda. but basketball was always there. the fact that i had the opportunity to play in high school, prep school, four years of NCAA D1, and eight years professionally, is a miracle in itself, as i never imagined i’d make it this far. so this is my official retirement from basketball. i must say that I’m pretty proud of what i accomplished. but i wouldn’t have been who i was as a player if it weren’t for every single person who coached and guided me through the years, especially my late high school coach bob farias as well as @steviehailey during my pro career. my family being there to support me no matter what, even when they were 7000 miles away. most importantly my dad, who encouraged and pushed me from the beginning; instilling his unwavering work ethic inside me. never missing a game if he was within driving distance. i wouldn’t have made it without him. i have no regrets. playing a game revolving around putting a leather ball through an iron ring ten feet off the ground has brought me countless gifts that i will treasure forever. it’s time i hang up the jersey and walk toward the white light in basketball heaven. it’s been almost a year that i’ve been living in los angeles pursuing some monstrous goals and i have a lot of exciting things coming up. like i said before, i’m right where i’m supposed to be and i couldn’t be more excited about the future to come. 🇮🇹 grazie a tutti i miei tifosi italiani nel corso degli anni. ho un profondo apprezzamento per tutte le nostre esperienze insieme. tornerò in italia a visitare presto e spero di vedervi tutti! 🇮🇹 all love - #letdaneplay - @dd on Instagram

Their album Life is Peachy had just been released! I had never been to Europe before. I remember watching the tour dates & cities being slowly spit out of a crude fax machine, after learning Korn had chosen us as their opener. City by city.... as I stared in total shock & amazement. I was so excited I couldn’t believe it was real! What could be more fun than seeing a couple dozen European cities for the first time, while rocking out on stage every night with one of my favorite bands?! Between these two albums, Black Sabbath had several of their greatest hits of all time, including songs like “Iron Man,” “War Pigs,” “The Wizard,” and “Paranoid” and helped pave the way for the creation of genres like heavy metal, doom metal, stoner rock, and goth. In 1972-73, the typeface Marvin was used on tour flyers promoting Sabbath’s shows in Germany. Although it may now seem strange to view the band’s name in this flair-filed hippie-invoking font, I’d like to pose this as an accurate depiction of the young band’s psychedelic-induced horror and the distorted blues riffs of their earliest years. Black Sabbath is hippie. 2020 is a lot of things, but it also celebrates 50 years of “Black Sabbath” and “Paranoid.” Here is a bootleg cassette containing both albums in full on their respective side, all dubbed on one 90 minute cassette. FBF to when i was a rapper. 😂 After being jumped by 20 guys in my home town I decided to change my environment. I arrived in Brisbane on my 21st birthday and became a barman in a strip club (santa fe gold) and moved in with a few guys involved in the hip hop scene. In 1998 we opened for @snoopdogg with an hour and a half show, my song with my mate Kris, Smokin Hydro, was the opening song. Funny enough, we both ended up on @sharkweek this year. 😂 Not a lot of money in rap music in Australia however and after the crew split, i made one of the best decision of my life and became an Airborne Infantry Soldier at the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment.
