In this photo, two people that have mentored me, shaped my tastes, and put my life on the path that it is on. The dude on the right is @warren702, who you all know. But the dude in the middle is Frank Mancuso aka Deekal - who was the son of my fathers childhood friend. I met him in 7th grade and he helped shape my taste in music. We hit it off immediately, comparing notes on Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, Too $hort, and NWA. He moved back to New York after high school, but we kept in touch. If not for him, my life and career path may have been completely different. I found out today that Frank died on Wednesday (not COVID-related, for those curious). In recent years, he held up our friendship better than I could have. Thank you, Frank Mancuso. Rest peacefully, my friend. Update: I have just found out that before he passed, the nurse asked what kind of music he liked and his sister Cara told her to play N.W.A. Long story short this time last year I got to connect with @raekwon about a clock collaboration. Month after linking I flew out to @611purplefactory before the grand opening in Toronto to personally install 9 #PurpleTape clocks set to different time zones. The Purple Factory is a dope shop with all of Raes exclusive gear and an official barbershop with the Wu mirrors. I didnt get to stay for the grand opening but I got to link with the homie @villabeatz for a hot sec before hopping on the bus back so I could install my water exhibition at @artapplenyc. I was so busy around that time I never even posted these clocks until @cynaminjones reminded me that we need appreciate our hard work sometimes. Today marks the 25th anniversary of #OnlyBuilt4CubanLinx so its only right I pay homage and respect to the chef. It’s been a huge honor to assist Curatorial Queen @the_lynx_eyed with organizing Sotheby’s first ever auction dedicated to Hip Hop - happening live online next Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6pmET @sothebys. The auction includes 120 lots with an emphasis on the late 70s through the “Golden Age” and includes contemporary art, photography, historic artifacts, one-of-a-kind experiences, fashion and jewelry, rare flyers, posters, and publications, and more. The majority of items have been consigned directly by artists or their estates and a portion of Sotheby’s proceeds will benefit the Queens Public Library to support their Hip Hop Programs coordinated by “Uncle” Ralph McDaniels, as well as Building Beats, a non-profit community that teaches tech, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills to underserved NYC youth through DJ and music programs. そんな時だから、こんな時だから、LAST 2 DAYS SSZの仮店舗 明日は、９月13日日曜日、SSZ仮店舗の最終営業日になります。この仮店舗に対しては、色々な事を考え、思い、取り組んだ。 ただでさえ、厄介なコロナの存在を常に考えて前に進まないと行けない、普通が普通じゃなくなった時に、自分流を貫く事は、時として、自分以外の人に迷惑をかけてしまったりする。 ネット、WEBの販売が、今のこの状況下では、気軽で、便利で、凄く平等に感じる、とても妥当というか、適切な販売方法であると感じたりする時もあるが… 自分は、お店が好きで、そこで、感じる世界観や雰囲気、その場所に行った事で知り合い、出会う事が、意味のあるモノで、凄く好きで、その現場を守りたいと思ったりもする。 数字的、効率とかで、必要ではないような感じには、なって欲しくない。こんな時だから、自分と周りと、 万全の態勢と、思い合う気持ちを大切に、取り組み、 前に進んで行って欲しい。言葉で、書く、言うのは、簡単だけど、大切なモノ、場所は、自分たちで守らないと行けない。 普段は、ビームス 原宿店や、ビームスのSSZの展開店舗の一部にしかない、コーナーが、ビームスを飛び出して、実店舗を構えるぐらいのスタンスで、取り組んだSSZの仮店舗は、こんな時だけど、という思いに、いや、前に進んで行こうという１つのカタチになったと思う。また、自己満足な事を書いていますが、 SSZは、よく分からないモノだかキチッとモノ、コトを接客というか、自然な、会話の中で、伝えてたり、感じたり、考えたり、思ったりする事が大切で、SSZらしさや、よくわからないところを好きになってもらったり、着たいと感じてもらえたらって強く思うところがあって。それが、このインスタであったり、明日まで、営業しているSSZの仮店舗であります。 今は、人と人が会い、話す事にリスクがある。 1人1人が、自分の行動に責任を持ち、色々な人の立場で、考えて、思い合えば、前に進む事は出来ると思う。少なからず、前に動かなくては、駄目になってしまう。ただただ、1日でも早く、ワクチンが出来る事を望み、願うのだが… こんな時だからこそ、ほんの一部の人にでもいい、自分が作ったSSZが人の支えになれたら、 万人受けしない、よくわからないSSZでありますが、自分が、このSSZに対する情熱は、24時間情熱大陸。 そんな思いが詰まったSSZ。いわゆる一つのカタチで出現したSSZの仮店舗。あと2日間、そう48時間、そうなったら、特別に、もう少しでリリースされるSSZ No18collectionの第2弾の2アイテムを先行リリースします。 それは、SSZ BIG DRIZZLERとSSZ 3POP柄CHINO。 この2アイテムは、今シーズンのテーマであるNo18collectionにおいて、通常18番ホールで勝負を決めるゴルフからのSSZで、ゴルフの1ルック組み立てで見る的な、アイテムになる。 ゴルフとは、穴に白いボールを入れて競うジェントルマンなスポーツ。 男なら、人間なら、いや生物なら、穴に入れるという行為は、新しいモノ、世界のスタートであるようなぁ。 あと2日で、SSZの仮店舗は、終わってしまうのですが、ここからが、また、新しいスタートの始まりでもあります。 こんな時だから、そんな時だからこそ、SSZの仮店舗。 お時間ある方、ぜひ、宮下パークへ、 宜しくお願いします。 #ssz #sszの仮店舗 #宮下パーク先行発売 #sszの仮店舗は9月13日まで - @katoyasai on Instagram
