- My grandfathers 1968 Camaro SS/RS. He bought it brand new & built it for the drag strip in the 70s.
Certainly, people dont just uproot their entire lives and abandon their homes if circumstances werent dire. My parents fled Vietnam in April 1979. They didnt know their future fate but they did know they had each other and that was enough. Somehow they weathered that tumultuous journey and ended up in Pulau Bidong, Malaysia where they spent 14 months in a refugee camp. I was born right before we made our way to Fort Dodge, Iowa in June 1980. Were posing in front of the Impala my dad bought for $600 from his first job - a proud day, we took lots of photos. Funny enough, my dads favorite song at the time was Coming to America by Neil Young. It wasnt long before we moved to Los Angeles and my dad became an engineer working for various airlines to provide for our family of six. Recently, he opened up to us about his true love of music. It was a shock to us when it happened but my dad now sings in a vọng cổ band (Vietnamese chamber music) with his friends and occasionally has gigs on local Vietnamese television. Were all very supportive and love seeing that hes getting a chance to express himself. And yes, he definitely has an affinity for nhạc trẻ (youths music) aka NEW WAVE. 1. Growing up in #turin #torino. 1986 was the last year for the career of the #lancia #lc2, unreliability and fuel consumption were made this car an unpromising choice for #Lancia. They were faster than the 962c but could not be reliable or fuel efficient. This one was on display somewhere in town and we couldnt resist taking a picture in front of it. 30 years ago, my Grandmother took delivery of her very first Range Rover, a 1990 Beluga Black County shown above. I don’t think she would have ever thought that 30 years later, she’d be buying her 8th one. If she hadn’t taken a chance on the low-volume, obscure British SUV, I know I would not be accepting a job at Jaguar Land Rover Princeton as their Encore and Marketing Specialist, as I am today. It’s a start that I hope will lead to a long career with Jaguar Land Rover and possibly, one day, to JLR corporate. I have to give a huge thank you to my Grandma, @landroverprinceton @kjpantano @gatherer_conti, and to everyone else who has advised and supported me in this process. For some, it might’ve seemed like a real-life episode of “The Sopranos.” In 2004, three separate dark green Kenneth Cole suitcases, containing pieces of a dismembered body, were found in and around the Chesapeake Bay, near Virginia Beach, Virginia. The body was eventually identified as 39 year-old Bill McGuire, an employee of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, who lived more than 300 miles away in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The medical examiner determined that the body had been shot multiple times. His wife, Melanie McGuire, a fertility nurse and the mother of his two sons, was eventually convicted of murdering him and dumping his body. She was sentenced to life in prison. Thirteen years have passed since Melanie McGuires conviction. She’s now a 47-year-old inmate at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, New Jersey, where she claims that she’s not only innocent of killing her husband but that his real killer is still out there. Lamborghini Countach LP5000S RHD 12654 in black with panna (cream) with a rear wing, was supplied new via Portman Lamborghini on 1st June 1984 to Barry Peng. This car is one of two nearly identical low mileage black RHD Countach LP5000Ss - the other being XEC457Y without a rear wing (see previous post). This car appeared for sale in 2010 with 4,094 miles and one owner, and has been well maintained by several reputable Lamborghini specialists. By 2015, the car was owned by Tom Hartley Junior. I took this photo at the Ferrari Owners’ Club Concours at Brocket Hall in 1990. If anyone has any more photos from that day I would be very interested. The car is currently for sale at Kaaimans International showing 5,500 miles.
