Els Cavallets dOlot, també coneguts com a cavallins són uns elements del bestiari popular practicats a Olot des de començaments del segle XVII. Estan formats per una estructura lleugera feta de fibra de vidre i roba que simula la forma dun cavall amb un forat al centre, on se situa el cavaller que sosté -a lalçada de la seva cintura- i fa moure lestructura, aconseguint lefecte visual dun cavall amb un genet a sobre. La primera referència olotina sobre cavallets o cavallins és de 1601, quan sesmenta que van participar en la processó per commemorar la canonització de sant Ramon de Penyafort. També nhi ha referència el 1619, quan es feren ballar per commemorar el decret papal de 1617, en què safirmava que la Mare de Déu fou concebuda sens pecat original. No els tornem a trobar fins al 1748, en què participen en la processó organitzada amb motiu de la benedicció del nou temple de la Mare de Déu del Tura. Els programes de les Festes del Tura ens donen les dades dels anys que van sortir: 1859, 1864, 1878, 1879 i, a partir de 1883, cada any, excepte el 1876, i del 1880 al 1882. Els Cavallets que coneixem van sortir al carrer per primera vegada lany 1904 i són obra de Francesc Estorch. El 1990, El Arte Cristiano en va fer una còpia exacta amb fibra de vidre, material menys pesant, ja que els vells pesaven 16 kg. i era difícil trobar balladors. A partir de 1995, els Cavallets han anat renovant la vestimenta i larmament. En aquests darrers anys han estrenat espases; lany 1997 van estrenar uns vestits, confeccionats per Teresa de Bodas a partir de documentació gràfica, amb la idea de recuperar els models que duien a la dècada dels seixanta; i per les Festes del Tura de 1998 han estrenat els cascs. Els Cavallets només ballen per les Festes del Tura. Executen dos balls per parelles, dirigits pel capità, amb una música basada en lòpera de Weber; Der Freischütz (El caçador furtiu). En el primer ball es col·loquen en bateria del dret i del revés, alternativament. El capità els dóna voltes i després dirigeix el ball. En el segon, es col·loquen en rotllana amb el capità al mig. Robert Hooke was #onthisday in 1635 in Freshwater, Isle of Wright. Hooke was a Surveyor to the City of London and, in partnership with Sir Christopher Wren, created the design of The Monument, which took six years to be completed, from 1671 to 1677. Hooke worked with Wren on the design of the Royal Observatory Greenwich, Montagu House in Bloomsbury, and the Bethlem Royal Hospital. They were keen astronomers, which is why The Monument was built to also serve as a Zenith telescope. 🔭 Hooke died on 3 March 1703. On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, guaranteeing and protecting women’s constitutional right to vote. The women’s suffrage movement lasted nearly 100 years and involved thousands of women from different walks of life campaigning tirelessly for the right to vote. Suffragists held mass meetings, circulated petitions, and went door-to-door to persuade voters of their cause. Vid Slöjdlärarseminariet på Nääs anordnades flera kurser i trädgårdsskötsel från år 1902. Kurserna vände sig till de lärare som var på Nääs för att gå en annan kurs i träslöjd eller ”lek” och som passade på att gå en extra kurs när de ändå var på plats. Trädgårdsskötsel och odling var ett skolämne i många folkskolor från 1800-talets mitt och in på 1900-talet. År 1890 hade 65% av alla folkskolor skolträdgård. Utöver att sprida kunskap om odling skulle skolträdgården påverka folk till att äta mer frukt och grönt. And this emerged in the nineteenth century, Where women gathered courage enough to keep One foot in the queer yet chaotic world.We are thankful to those ambitioned and courageous women of the nineteenth century. To make a beautiful pathway for all the womens in the future, where she can become something and achieve everything. Thankful to Charlotte Brontë, Jane Austen, Louisa May Alcott and many other authors to bring the epitome of love, work and domesticity, and to teach the importance of women.
