#poznajdziełaodzyskane❗️ Obraz Roberta Śliwińskiego „Ulica wraz z ruiną zamku”, który został utracony w czasie II wojny światowej, powrócił do Polski dzięki współpracy MKiDN i FBI. Odzyskane dzieło jest przykładem XIX-wiecznego malarstwa śląskiego i ukazuje wiejską uliczkę oraz górujące nad okolicą ruiny zamku. . Autorem obrazu jest Robert Śliwiński. W 1870 r., po studiach w Akademiach Sztuk Pięknych we Wrocławiu i Frankfurcie, przeniósł się na stałe do Wrocławia, gdzie m.in. prowadził własną szkołę malarstwa dla kobiet. Obraz „Ulica wraz z ruiną zamku” został zakupiony do zbiorów Śląskiego Muzeum Sztuk Pięknych we Wrocławiu w kwietniu 1939 r. od rodziny Fischer-Dieskau z Berlina. Dzieło było wystawiane dwukrotnie. Jeszcze na początku 1939 r. obraz jako wypożyczony eksponat prezentowany był na organizowanej przez Śląskie Muzeum Sztuk Pięknych we Wrocławiu wystawie poświęconej śląskim pejzażom. W 1941 r. zaś obraz zdobił wystawę malarstwa w Bytomiu. . Dzieło Śliwińskiego pozostawało w zbiorach Muzeum do lipca 1942 r. kiedy to zostało ewakuowane przez niemiecką administrację z Wrocławia do składnicy dóbr kultury w Kamieńcu Ząbkowickim na Dolnym Śląsku. W Archiwum Muzeum Narodowego we Wrocławiu zachował się spis ewakuacyjny, w którym wymieniono także obraz Śliwińskiego. Dalsze losy obiektu pozostawały nieznane. Obiekt po wojnie został uznany za zaginiony, a dzieło zostało zarejestrowane w bazie strat wojennych MKiDN jako strata Muzeum Narodowego we Wrocławiu. . Dzieło zostało odnalezione w lutym 2017 r., kiedy to MKiDN zostało poinformowane, że wystawił je na internetowej aukcji antykwariat z Pensylwanii w USA. Po potwierdzeniu tożsamości obiektu, o sprawie zostało poinformowane FBI, które w krótkim czasie zabezpieczyło obraz. . Przekazanie obrazu stronie polskiej nastąpiło 29 listopada 2017 r. w MKiDN w obecności wicepremiera Piotra Glińskiego, ambasadora USA Paula W. Jonesa oraz członków FBI Art Crime Team zaangażowanych w odzyskanie obrazu. Obraz przekazano w tym samym dniu do zbiorów @nationalmuseuminwroclaw. Whistler chose a rough brown paper to execute his pastel view of Venice, exploring the vivid hues of the sunset. Silvestre recorded the spectacular Fountain of the Dragons at the Villa d’Este, a 16th-century palace near Rome that was already a tourist attraction when he visited it in the mid-17th century. Summer Vacation: Take a hike! In his painting “Landscape”, Asher Durand depicts two figures enjoying the perfect summer day, taking a break from a walk in the woods. Upon closer inspection you will notice both men have brought along sketchpads, and are perhaps pausing at this spot to draw the world that surrounds them. These artists are deep in conversation, one standing and gesturing with his maulstick while his companion listens in rapt attention. Asher Durand (1796-1886) was trained as an engraver, and gained success as a portrait painter early in his career. His close friendship with Thomas Cole led him eventually to focus on landscape painting in the late 1830s. Both Durand and Cole were members of the National Academy of Design, with Durand eventually become its president. Cole’s untimely death in 1848 affected Durand deeply. Perhaps their friendship is memorialized in this painting; two artists enjoying a summer day, exploring nature and talking about art. The works of Durand and Cole are currently on view at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis @dixonmemphis in the AFA exhibition, “For America: Paintings from the National Academy of Design” on view until September 24. Back in the 18th century when big parts of the world were undiscovered many explorers traveled the world in search of paradise islands with eternal sunshine and exotic - and erotic - inhabitants. Many painters joined the explorers and documented the encounters with the unknown which at the same time served as an illustration of western civilizational superiority. This view of London from around 1600 is one of very few surviving paintings to give a generalised view over the City. It was drawn from the church tower of St Mary Overy (now Southwark Cathedral), which was a popular viewpoint for artists depicting the city. The vista is not topographically accurate, and has been compressed to include various landmarks. Starting at the left, we can see Whitehall, and prominently towards the right of the centre we can see Old London Bridge. Built between 1176 and 1209, it was the first stone bridge to cross the Thames. At that time, it was surmounted by houses, shops and a chapel, and its gatehouse on the Southwark side was regularly adorned with the severed heads of traitors, as can be seen here. The houses were removed and the bridge widened in the late 18th century before it was finally demolished in 1831. To the far right, we can see the river bend. The artist is unknown, but likely to be from the Netherlands. The piece relates to a print by Clement de Jongh ( fl. 1640-70) and has been tentatively dated by means of technical analysis of the panel to 1625-1655. - @museumoflondon on Instagram

Si deslizas la segunda imagen son las ruinas de #iglesia de Las Mercedes tras el terremoto de 1812, ubicada en la actual parroquia Altagracia del municipio Libertador. Este templo resultó muy dañado por el sismo y no se reconstruyó totalmente hasta 1857. . Aujourdhui on découvre la ville dAngers avec un peintre anglais, George Clarkson Stanfield! 🌉 Le pont en ruine est celui du Pont des Treilles, construit au 12e siècle. Son nom vient des treilles de fer et de bois qui fermaient ses arches, formant la défense de la ville sur la rivière. Henri II Plantagenêt y avait fait installer sous les arches des moulins à eau, dont il fit dont à lhôpital St Jean tout proche. Les revenus obtenus permettaient les soins des pauvres et des malades. #summerwalk 🌾 Die warme Atmosphäre im Gemälde „Der Weg nach Hampton Court“ von Alfred Sisley erinnert an Sommertage. Ein breiter Weg führt an der Themse entlang. Einige Spaziergänger flanieren im Sonnenlicht, im glitzernden Wasser bewegt sich ein Ruderboot. Zarte Wolken am blauen Himmel scheinen aus dem Bild zu fliehen. Mit hellen Farben und einer lichtdurchfluteten Leichtigkeit fängt der Impressionist eine sommerliche Momentaufnahme ein. Sisley hat während seiner häufigen Aufenthalte in England mehr als zehn Landschaften in Hampton Court, dem westlichen Vorort von London, geschaffen. A wide path leads along the Thames. Some walkers stroll in the sunlight, a rowing boat moves in the glittering water. Delicate clouds in the blue sky seem to flee from the picture. With bright colors and a light-flooded lightness, the impressionist captures a summery snapshot. During his frequent stays in England, Sisley created more than ten landscapes in Hampton Court, the western suburb of London. #SubmarineSunday ⚓ On July 31, 1945 USS Bullhead (SS-332) left Fremantle, Australia on her third war patrol. They were headed to the Java Sea to join a wolfpack with USS Capitaine (SS-336) and USS Puffer (SS-268); then, on September 5, they proceeded to Subic Bay to patrol on their own. Bullhead arrived in the area on August 6, but Capitaine did not arrive until August 13. On August 12, Capitaine ordered Bullhead to take position the following day in a scouting line with Capitaine and Puffer. There was no reply and on August 15, Capitaine reported, Have been unable to contact Bullhead by any means since arriving in area.” At the time, the area was fairly crawling with subs—USS Cod (SS-224), USS Chub (SS-329), Capitaine, and Puffer, as well as the British HMS Taciturn and HMS Thorough— it is difficult to point to one Japanese anti-submarine attack as the one which sank Bullhead. However, the most likely one occurred on August 6, 1945, when an enemy army plane attacked with depth charges (when Bullhead was presumably cruising on the surface off the coast of Bali). The pilot claimed two direct hits, and for ten minutes thereafter, there was a great amount of gushing oil and air bubbles rising in the water. Since the position given is very near the Bali coast, it is presumed that the proximity of mountain peaks shortened Bullheads radar range and prevented her from receiving a warning of the planes approach. Bullhead was the 52nd and final American submarine lost during World War II. She was lost with 84 men aboard. May they never be forgotten. Bullhead is credited with sinking four enemy ships (1,800 tons), damaging three ships (1,300 tons). She also rescued three airmen from a downed B-29. 📸 1: USN photo Print of the Bullhead (SS-332).
