Good news for Morgan- please take a minute and read below with @stockreader !โค๏ธ๐๐ป TUESDAY UPDATE (September 29th) Alright, who did it??? Im looking for someone to point the finger at here. So, if it was you, go ahead and fess up! Somebody was praying so hard that Morgan - wait for it -....... MOVED TO A REGULAR ROOM TODAY!!!! In case you havent been keeping count, Morgan has been in ICU for the past 11 weeks! (And only in a regular room for about 3 or 4 weeks since May 7th). And while the ICU team has been unbelievably incredible, its been a tough ride! Her mom has been sleeping in a recliner, no bathroom in the room, no windows to the outside world, monitors going off all night, discouragement and questioning if things will ever change. But this morning, when the team came to usher Morgan to her new room, it was the most beautiful moment to realize that Morgan is healing enough to move FORWARD!!! And the room has a view of the gorgeous Secret Garden!!! Morgans body is clear of infection, her head is healing nicely from the cranioplasty, her body remains fragile, and her brain is still on the long road to recovery. The next few weeks will be critical as they try to wean her off the heavy narcotics. We are praying that she will emerge more and more as these medicines are working their way out of her system. We are excited but anxious to see what this next phase holds! But tonight, we can go to bed THANKFUL and in awe of Gods continued presence. #miraclesformorgan - @shopthebeadlady on Instagram

For 19 years of my life, I had two parents, on paper. A mother and a father, for all the school family trees I had to make, for all the forms Ive had to fill that asked me to write my mothers name, and my fathers, for the fact that I needed a last name, for the fact someone was paying our bills, for me to fit into conversations everytime my classmates spoke about Sundays with their dad, for all the times someone asked me for a family photograph, and all these countless moments where my father just existed in photographs, forms and imaginary conversations. But for all those 19 years, Maa took the role of both behind closed doors. She saved up every cent for my birthday to be able to give me 13 gifts on 13th October to this very day, she listened to me when I was at my worst, and pushed me to do my best, she looked after me, after the house, showed up at every single parent teacher meeting and annual function with the loudest cheer so that my fathers absence wouldnt pinch, stayed up with me all night teaching me math one day, hindi the other. She was brave enough for the both of us, and even when she was scared, she never let that show, being our pillar of strength. My father is physically absent now, but he was emotionally absent and mentally absent from my life for as long as I can remember. She gave me more love than a normal parent would, because it needed to be enough for the lack of it from someone else, and thats why shes always going to my whole family. My whole world. Long Bright River is my fourth novel, but the first to find many of you. Today I want to tell you about my other books...because they all feel a little like my children, or at least like old friends, and whenever they pop up on this platform or another I get a little thrill. 1. THE UNSEEN WORLD (@w.w.norton 2016): the story of a computer-scientist single father and his child-prodigy daughter in Boston in the 1980s. When it becomes clear that the father has lied about his entire history, the daughter must figure out who he really is. Probably the most โmysteryโ-adjacent book Iโve written, for fans of LBR. 2. HEFT (@w.w.norton 2012): the story of a former professor who suffers from compulsive eating and has become agoraphobic due partly to his size. His only connection to the outside world is the letters he sends to a former student, whose son, a high school baseball standout, is the other protagonist of the book. 3. THE WORDS OF EVERY SONG (@crownpublishing 2007): I wrote this when I was a baby writer, and I was actually more interested in writing songs than fiction at that time! Itโs a series of interconnected short stories about the music industry, based partly on my time playing and working on the periphery of the aforementioned. I didnโt want to make this about me, but yesterday I learned that my sweet friend and my first love went to Heaven. I wanted to share a little bit of my piece of him that only few of us on this earth got to experience. I feel so lucky that I did. We may have not worked out in the way we initially thought, but every time I dated someone new he would say โlater, soulmateโ๐ and we would still talk and send each other funny dumb snaps anyways, up until a few days ago. Iโm so glad that our friendship and genuine love for each other stood the test of high school and โyoung loveโ and I got to spend the summer of 2016 with him. We always kept up with each other. I got told today that we were โthe funniest duo.โ I just wish we could make each other laugh again. His smile and green eyes and his gap in his teeth that he would squirt WATER through at people.. he was the loveliest. And that barely scratches the surface of who he is. The memories come flooding back as Iโm writing this. In high school I was blasting Taylor Swift and singing at the top of my lungs because of this boy. Part of why Cupid struck me!!! Bj will always have a huge piece of my heart and he will always be my first love. He taught me what love felt like for the first time when I was 15. I can only hope he knows that now. I will love you forever Bj. You are without a doubt the funniest, most fun human Iโve ever gotten to enjoy.. as so many others did. If you knew him, you knew Bj had star power. Bj was a light. Here we are in my character Rowanโs bedroom on set of the feature we filmed this February. ... We spent a lot of time squeezed into this tiny room with the camera rolling. (Literally, we were piled in on top of each other. My ear, chin and shoulder became a tripod for the RED.) There was fear, love, and rage in this room; there was also an uncontrollable laughing fit, a lot of tea and several nightmares. We made mistakes in this room and I think we made some magic, too. ... You donโt post anything about someone like this. We go and enjoy a field or breathe in the air and smile and remember you. This is for all the people who knew my brother and those who didnโt get the chance to know such an amazing young, beautiful soul. He loved everyone so dearly. He loved anyone and everyone. He loved the other, the outsider. The set apart. The person who didnโt belong. He made people feel loved and like they belonged. Like they were special and included. He made me realize what loving really was and for so long I didnโt get it. I think after ten years I might just be starting to know an ounce of the kind of love he bestowed on others. Blessings.
